The only "winners" will be the agents who spend money. Everyone else, especially the solo team/slow builders, will be left out.
Good luck to everyone, but be prepared to spend REAL money (and in this economy) to win.
I don't get it. I don't play other MMORPG games, but I hear that they pretty much do the same thing. Offer the basics for free, but if you want to be any good, you'll have to pay money and invest. You can't expect that with the conversion to age based leagues that you would have gotten instant parity, it will take time, at least two seasons, for that to really start bearing fruit. With all that said, you'll always have a gutted team or two in your league, a roster full of CPU players, etc. It's just part of the nature of the beast. Is it a perfect system? No. Does it make - everyone - happy? No. Neither does the justice system of the good old USA, but it's the best around.
You can argue particular points on this that or the other thing, but I've tried some other slick on-line football games and they let you in for free and try it out too, they look slick, animations are great, but woof, they're fast to cut you off and ask for money. GLB lets you do this at your pace.
Regarding the need to spend money to win, I disagree. Does it help, it sure does, but there are examples of non-boosting teams that have won and are successful at lower levels. Don't ask me to hunt down the examples, I won't waste my time on it, but they are out there and there are some folks who do actually prefer the ease and less stress related lower leagues.
