I like the idea Mat...I just don't think it should be binding in anyway. Here is some food for thought.

The LOI should be used more as a recruiting tool but also as a reputation measurement as well. It should be tracked on the player's profile (i.e. showing the player's history of commits & retractions) as well as the team's profile (showing the same). This would allow future recruiters or prospects to gauge whether this player/team can be counted on to follow thru with their LOI.

I don't want to get too far ahead of things but if the LOI is treated in the way I described above you could then extend its functionality at some point to include things like "Expected Depth Chart" (Starter, Backup, STOP, etc.) or "Role with Team" (with some basic things you could promise a recruit by position like ball thrown to them "x" times per game for a WR...or blitzed 10 times per game for a LB, etc.).

I like this idea, however if they would just lift the roster restrictions on teams once they are eliminated from the playoffs, it would be better than the OP, because you could go ahead get the players signed instead of just some un-enforcable letter of intent.

At first I was like no but then seeing how you explain how there will be options and waivers, it makes alot more sense and think it would be fun for the game. I like the idea

I agree with RAIDAHS

Once eliminated from the playoffs, roster restrictions should be removed so teams can be rebuilt during the down time.

I like this a lot; recruiting is one of the biggest headaches in this game (for those who still have to recruit) and this would be a BC powder

Because you are locked in on day 32. A lot of shit can happen in one week. Day 32 is when a lot of people start shopping their players since their current team is out of the playoffs. I could maybe go along with it if agents had the ability to opt out up until day 41.
