Then you have only certain players who can have General. This allows you to to have your QB or ILB or whatever to put their points where they like and have a Team Captain somewhere else on the field.

The VA bonus isn't a bad idea, though I do just like the general cosmetic idea of naming team Captains. Just a little something extra and deeper to maybe say hey, this guy is always helping the team, knows what to do and is always getting it done on the field.

It's not even really a bonus. It can be purely cosmetic, but it also allows for the new VA.
