How about if you select ST Archetype at player creation, your two SA trees are STs and Normal?

For example:

STs: Quick Cut-> Diving Tackle -> Hands -> Shed Block -> Monster Hit
Normal: Run Block -> Pass Block -> Get Low -> Shock Block -> Pancake (or defensive ones if it's a defensive player)

The SAs could be tweaked or whatever but I like the general idea...

This
Make it like 200 flex and have archetypes (blocker, tackler, returner - this way you could make a returner who wasn't a WR, RB or CB but JUST a returner)

and this

That setup seems to support the idea of making STOP a position, with the Archetypes being Blocking and Coverage. Those could also be the two SA trees,

Blocking - Run Block, Get Low, Hands, Cut Block, Pancake
Coverage - First Step, Change Direction, Wrap Up Tackle, Diving Tackle, Monster Hit

i think it is important that both types of STOPs get relatively the same skills in their trees. to that end, i think Get Low should be removed for Quick Cut/Change Direction in the Blocking tree just to keep the trees relatively even.

but I also liked the idea for there being 1 "normal" tree for a position, and 1 STOP tree.

fair enough that you feel that way, but why?

1.STOP is not a position
2. ST's are already out of whack imo. Current issues with wedges setting up behind the returner and such need to be fixed first

3. Everybody is hating on Cam Newton

-1, the trees are too good, if they don't a few shit spots in them that make you waste SP to get something good then it's not a true GLB Dot.

I thought this thread was about eliminating the rainforest, but was disappointed.

-1 to OP. STOP guys can buy new SAs with BT already.

you would think that if somebody were to take the time to create a dot for a thankless role that we would want to make it more appealing to do so.

Nah, I like the way it is right now (although I do like the idea of STOP trees). In real football, special teamers are usually backups at other positions, and occasionally play at those positions when needed. Even when guys play primarily on special teams, they are still listed on the roster as a regular position (WR, LB, S, etc.)
