CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS RANKINGS & PREDICTIONS
The Fine Four
1 Franchise vs 2 Canton
The two teams expected to make it this far did just that and are set up for a great rematch. Franchise has been tearing through the playoffs averaging 96 points a game while only giving up an average of 8 points per game. That should change when they face off against Canton this week. Canton took down Massawa easily in the first round and just came away with a nerve wrenching OT victory over Fulham. After jumping out to a 21-0 lead in the first half they were in for the fight of their life as FFH came out with a vengeance in the second half to tie it up at 38. Unfortunately for Fulham it took only the third play in OT for a huge mistake to cost them the game. A badly timed INT was taken back to the house to give Canton the big win.
I'm anticipating a great game out of this one and hopefully it will be closer than the last outing. In the end I've got to give the Franchise the vote here. 18-0 is hard to ignore but I still think Canton can take them as well. Whoever wins will represent Lion well in the League Championship game.
3 BSS vs 4 ICB
I don't think they stand a chance against So...wait a minute! Where's SoA and WWR? WTF are you Elephant teams trying to do to me?
BSS comes away with a huge upset win over SoA to advance. What did they do? Played some old school, ground and pound football that's what. 68 rushes to 5 pass attempts let them control the clock for 36 minutes and that achieved two things. Tired out the Sons D and kept their impressive O off the field. It worked and by taking them down BSS has to be the favorite to go to the LC game now.
ICB wasn't going to let BSS have all the fun though as they upset the #2 seeded Rhinos. Not as large an upset as BSS over SoA considering they beat WWR in the regular season but still an upset in my eyes. This game turned in the 2nd Q when ICB put up 17 unanswered points. From there it was just a matter of staying ahead on the scoreboard. Just looking at the stats the game was pretty even but WWR did have one more turnover than ICB. The second one happened to set up ICB at WWRs 22 yd line though and allowed them to get a TD after a series of missed tackles.
BSS took this matchup in the regular season and after finding a way to topple the giant I can't pick against them.
