So right now it appears the only way to release your player from a team that was sold is to click on the release player button from the alert messagel that comes in. If you accidentally clear out that alert message, there is no way to remove your player from the team until the team is actually purchased, then you get another alert. If you delete that alert, you are toast.

there needs to be a tab that allows you to release yourself from the team while it is CPU owned or while it is in that chemistry grace period of a new purchase.

or am i missing something and its already there and I'm a ra-tard

I haven't had a player on a CPU team so I couldn't say if you're missing something.

But what you're saying certainly sounds like a very good suggestion. +1

I sold my team back day 31 to help other players get on playoff teams for the end of the season, I had some of my own players receive contracts, however i'm not signing a 2 year contract for next season, so i left them on my former team for the time being. That team was purchased today, which is how i received the other email.

on that same note, once the team was purchased the notification didnt appear until i clicked on the alerts, it never showed up as an alert on the home page until i actually went in.

it is very easy to delete all those "your team was sold" messages when you have various alerts and you want to delete them all.

i think it needs to be fixed

I looked everywhere today trying to find a way to release my dot from a team that was sold. Then I remembered I didn't delete that alert.

Yeah, that sounds like something that should be easy to fix, but would do a lot of good.

LIKELY A BUG

Did it.

Confirmed.

You can still get a contract from another team, but getting yourself to FA status (not sure why u might need to) is impossible.

I'll second verification it.

i know my reason for getting to FA status was to avoid the new ownership. Initially there's really no reason to jump to FA status while the team is CPU, but right after its purchased some people do not particularly want to be owned by a team they dont particularly want to play for, you know?

Per Bort:

you are not supposed to be able to release yourself from a CPU team unless it just got sold/bought. Otherwise people would leave CPU teams constantly and play a game every hour by joining another. I guess the main suggestion there, though, is to have a release link somewhere other than the PM you get when the team does get sold/bought.

So, it's not really a bug. More of a suggestion/oversight which I will put on the list.
