After discussion today, we've decided to give limited player movement within the DPC a chance before considering completely removing the DPC.

Thanks for that.

I am still of the opinion that the change to CB coverage of receivers has led to most of this. We can't hit the quick slants anymore because the CBs are all over the inside of the WRs.

I asked as well, what did you guys have in mind?

This is was my suggestion was on page one.

Quote this for truth if you think it is a better Idea than chopping off one of the best things that's happened to our team. The DPC.

I would love an OPC for the fun of it, but it would absolutely drive the offenses to unheralded overpowered status. It would probably make the DPC obsolete.

How do you create a defensive play when you have no idea what possible routes have to be covered from a particular formation? You'd be force to basically use the plays we already have preset, and rely on zones and generic coverages.

They'd be converted to default alignments. DC's could go in and change from there.

I think that this would work well only if the restriction of the line and LBs was to a smaller range instead of a few exact spots. For example, the LBs could not be as close to the line or as outside as they are now. The DEs must stay closer to their usual spots and rules like that instead of giving only a few options.

So quit throwing them, scout a defense and find better pass plays, sounds logical to me.

I forever tried to set up a 4-4 Defense but the olb's range was already just a couple of feet, I don't like this one bit. It's hard enough to stop pitch plays as it is this will only make it harder. I guess I will be running a Dime defense now 100% of the time.

This is my question as well....

Just give the OC's the ability to setup their own Custom Plays. If you guys can't figure out how to stop exploit blitzes, let us do it on our own.

This is actually a great suggestion. Having a limited OPC, which only pertains to protection schemes would not greatly overpower an offense. You could easily counter any exploit you find. It might make the offenses even a little better, but the additional perks of being able to use an OPC would at least counter the loss or limitation of the DPC from a business and entertainment standpoint.

Player movement should be limited for anyone set to blitz, or who could blitz based on coverage assignments. Otherwise I see a lot of Blitzing CB's and Coverage OLB's in the future.

Yeah, you'd have to. I would be forced to run quarters or dime and set to blitz just to be able to stop a good team's pitch or sweep play, and pray we don't miss any tackles.

You go into any random league, and by random, I actually mean any typical level 20-50 league, and scout the defense of any terrible team, and any outside play is usually sitting around 12-24 yards per carry on average because of how hard it is to stop the sweep. You HAVE to blitz.

Where the DL and LB'ers can start the play. We'll also probably adjust boundaries of the box secondary players are allowed to be in further out.
