Week 2: 7-1
Week 3: 6-2
Week 4: 7-1
Season: 20-4
So the D-Monks let me down in my quest for perfection this week. I am so disappointed in them. They leave me grasping for another week's worth of foresight magnificence. Congrats to all the winners in 4, and now..... On to the games!!!
Game of the Week
St. Louis Storm at Grim Reapers
St.Louis storm cost me my perfect record last week. In retaliation I place the GOTW curse on them Ra!Ta!Ta!
But in all seriousness, this one has the makings of an epic display. Both teams are 3-1. Both are competing for home playoff games in a very competetive upper half of this conference. The Grim Reapers have been on a roll since their week 1 loss to SoYo. The Storm have been playing great defense all season, to match. The difference here will be the strength of the StL running game versus the weaker Reapers defense. They're not bad at all, but they are definitely the weaker half of the Reapers' squad. So my pick......
GotW Winner: St. Louis Storm
Ithaca Space Munkees at Belfast Mafia
Well, when you have one of the best teams in the conference squaring off against what is in contention for the worst starting lineup in the conference... things could get ugly. The Munkees could be a gameplanning and statistical genius behind the scenes, but they will never have the chance to show it until they can rustle up some players. Belfast wins huge.
Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn at London Brawling Tommies
They couldn't find a win as the Chiefs. Will their recent logo change be enough of an adrenaline boost and renewed identity to muster a win? Not this week. The name move is hopefully a representation of some team democracy and involvement, which is great! But... Wrexham just brings too much more to the table in this one. They shouldn't have too much of a problem taking this one home.
Transylvania Bloodsuckers at Kilkenny Cannibals
Trannsylvania is showing they really have what it takes after their tough week 1 loss. They have roared off winning 3 straight, including 2 to very quality opponents. The Cannibals roped off their first win last week, but Iam afriad there will be no streak in Kilkenny. The Bloodsuckers are fighting for a home playoff spot at this point, whereas the Cannibals are just looking to be there. Not that the Cannibals aren't good... but the Suckers are just better.
Crimson and Cream Sooner Machine at Warsaw Knuckleheads
After roaring off to a high-octane start, the Knuckleheads have been held to 10 combined points in their last two games. Look for their spark to return this week when facing a demoralized CCSM team coming off a devastating 101-0 shutout. Knuckleheads win this one by a bunch with very little wo worry about.
Vatra Dornei Wraiths at South Yorkshire Stars
How do you pick against a team who just won 101-0? You don't. I'll keep picking SoYo no matter what until someone steps up to challenge them. The Wraiths are no 101-0 victim, but I don't expect this one to be terribly close, either... just too much power manifesting on the SoYo roster.
Amsterdam Arctic Blast at Dublin Drunken Monkeys
DMonks are coming off their first loss of the season. Amsterdam was the preseason favorite. This one could be very close. Or it could be a blowout. It all comes down to which team did the better scouting on this one, and considering the DMonks let me down last week, I am going to give that benefit of the doubt to Amsterdam. The Arctic OL is much stronger than their Irish opponents, and I think that's where the difference wil be made. So give this one to the Artic Blast by around 10-14.
Oklahoma (U.S.A.) Outlaws at Basin City Blues
Basin City has a WR on a mission to be considered the greatest in the league. His next step of this pursuit leads him into Outlaws country. Will he have a chance to improve on this? Yes, he will. Basin City should have little opposition this week and bring home a pretty secure W. As I said about the Outlaws last week... they're headed in the right direction, but they just haven't arrived yet. They don't have the defensiv eweapons to keep up with an offense like BCB.
-----------------------------------------------------------
So there ya go... picks of the week. Now let's see if my inevitable perfect week shows up this time. I think it will. I know it will. I can feel..baduhda... I can feeeeeeel.....baduhda.... I CAN FEEEEEEEEL ITTT! Oh, and for normality's sake.... my uncertainty award of the week goes to St.L vs. Reapers.
