Where the safeties dont take turrible angles to outside runs and actually give deep pass help?

Worked very well for me in the past. Won a couple of conference titles in AA and AAA implementing it as a part of my defenses.

Man and zone combo is the way to go. Keep those safeties up to support against the run.

I use cover zero, 1,2,3 and 4 all to good effect. They all work reasonably well in the right context.

When your safeties get a good ratio of speed, agility, vision, have them play cover zone shallow, and deep strong half. Have them set at point zero in their zones. In other words, move them to where you don't see the line displayed that leads them into the zone. You shouldn't see any lines when set at point zero. That way they are starting out in a play where they would run too when the play begins.

Doing this allows them to react better by not running away from a run play if you had them closer to the line of scrimmage. They are now in a position to react quicker to attack a run, instead of running toward the zone, then having to change direction to come back against a run.

Have the corners play man.

This is the most effective defensive design I've found so far, and got 2 DC gold trophies using it.

It's very effective against the run, and pass......especially an outside run. They must have very good speed, agility and vision to be the most effective. Have their individual tactics set to balanced. Have his pass rushing tactics set to passive.

What do you recommend if your team has terrible speed? And constantly getting beat on the runs to the outside?

Get better dots? Play your safeties in the under or flat zones on the outside?

Wow thought I wouldn't get any help with this, I sort of figured this out to a point where they would getter better angles but didnt know it would help them run straight to a play instead of moving to the zone then back into it again. MUCH APPRECIATED BRO.

Of course there are times when you actually want your zone defenders to be moving at the snap of the ball....
