I just created my first defensive end and I was going to focus more on strength than anything else. I was wondering if there was anyone who was alreay trying this approach and have had success. I figure that I would make him more physical with the O-lineman and just run through them instead of trying to run around them.

That's an interesting approach. I wouldn't think it would work out so well seeing as most linemen focus on ONLY strength and blocking so it'd be pretty tough to make your end stronger. I'm always into new builds though so I wish you luck.

Yeah I know that lineman focus only on strength and blocking. That is why I want to be a strong DE so that if they do get a peice of me I will be strong enough to shed the block. I am not going to ignore speed and agility just focus more on strength first. I imagine at first he will be better against the run than at being a pass rusher. I just wanted to try a different build than most people are doing.

strength is not the most important. no way can you out strength the OL since they focus on 2 stats. most OL forget about agi and speed so they get beat around the corner.
i had str as one of my top skills and didnt do crap. then i started putting agi and speed and then right away i get my first hurry

I think they are focusing more on strength now but when the game first started most DE's were all speed and agility

just to let people know in my second game I had 5 tkls 1 tfl in 38 plays

its cuz your a LDE. LDE gets more tackle while RDE gets more hurries and sacks

still not that bad of a showing if you ask me considering I was lvl 1 at game time and the RT was lvl 3 and the TE was lvl 6 (maybe 5)

Edit: but one good game doesnt mean anything it depends on how he does through out the season.

When I started My DE I went str first. I got a ton of hurries but didnt get too many sacks. It has been my experience that str will get a few sacks here and there but the speed/ agility builds get more sacks. although I would be interested in seeing how many times each build got pancaked on a run block. Once the more advanced AI tactics are in I think you will see a more specialized approach when it comes to DEs

The str builds will be the more everydown type end and the speed/agility builds the pass rush specialists. Just my opinion though.

If you're team is planning on playing a 3-4 defense, you'll need strength. That's what most of the DE's on my team have been doing, but adding in enough Speed/AGI to be effective in the 4-3. Once we can switch to the 3-4, we will and it will require minimal changes to our D-line builds.

Most DE pour their energy into speed and agility. They forget about strength.

You have to work a balance between strength, speed and agility.
Then not forgetting vision, jumping and tackling.

The new AI does not let you select certain players for particular roles on D. I was disappointed with that aspect. That would allow teams to do things like a run stopping D-line or a pass rushing one.
But, you will be able to create a blitz package where a particular position on the field will go after the QB.

i play LE for my team and for the 2nd year in a row i lead the DL for Tackles, Sacks. although i don't lead it for hurries this year i did last year.

in my build i have concentrated on speed>strength>agility

? ive seen the exact opposite. most people neglect agi or speed. and all the good DE in pro USA have high speed.
