The Unofficial USA A#3 Power Rankings
created by sawedust

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the first edition of sawedust's USA A#3 Unofficial Power Rankings.

With gtbice away from GoalLineBlitz for quite some time until he can get his personal life under control, I have taken it upon myself to continue what gtbice has started.

Since this is an unofficial ranking, I see no reason to spend extra time on this as I would if it were official. Therefore, you readers get a watered-down version of my power rankings but it's better than nothing.

Also, a new episode of The Mason Cynder Story will premiere this week, don't miss out.

Back on topic...

This may be the first time you have seen the sPR system, so here's a primer on how this baby works:

The following statistics have been broken down into two parts: Overall Season and Last Four Games. The "Overall" portion takes into account a team's performance over the entire season. The "Last Four Games" portion takes into account a team's recent performances. By using the L4 in my stats, I am able to accurately gauge how well a team is currently doing (if players were signed/released, etc). Anyway, here are the stats used...

Win-Loss
For the most part, winning is everything. More wins equals more points in the rankings.

Strength of Schedule
This determines the level of opponents a team has faced.

Margin of Victory
There is no room for sympathy in GLB. Blow your opponents out in order to move up in the rankings.

Points For/Against
This gauges the overall strength of a team's offense and defense.

Miscellaneous
Players, tactics, etc.

All stats posted are mathematically accurate, and the rankings are in no way influenced by my dislike for every team in this division regardless of who you are. I don't care. But what I can show you is a somewhat accurate representation of which teams are the most powerful in USA A#3 at this point in the season.

So with that said...

Here are your UNOFFICIAL USA A#3 Power Rankings!

THE CREAM OF THE CRAP

1. Fortaleza Longhorns (4-0), 61.295
Fortaleza takes over the top spot with a 44-3 pwn job over the College Station Aggies. The Longhorns currently have the toughest strength of schedule of all the undefeated teams in the league, along with the league's second-ranked defense according to sPR standards. Fortaleza has a cake schedule ahead of them, and I expect them to take full advantage of this gift from the GLB gods. Last game: Win vs. College Station Aggies (1-3), 44-3... Next game: Away at Mile High Mustangs (1-3)... Last week: #3 (+2)

2. Austin Orangebloods (4-0), 60.67
Austin comes in a close second and could make an argument for being one of the top teams here in USA A#3. Why a team needs 50 different GMs, I have no idea, but it seems to work for this undefeated powerhouse. Austin has a tough schedule ahead of them, but if they come out unscathed they should find themselves at the top of the power rankings again. Last game: Win at South Park ManBearPigs (2-2), 37-3... Next game: At home vs. More Cowbells (4-0)... Last week: #1 (-1)

3. Las Vegas Flyin' Elvis (4-0), 49.64
From a personal standpoint, LVFE would have been placed at the top due to their blowouts over very inferior competition. They hold the best offense AND defense according to sPR standards, but their pathetic strength of schedule (currently 31st in the league) has dropped them to third. LVFE has quality opponents in the next upcoming weeks, so we'll see what Las Vegas is truly capable of. Last game: Win at Philadelphia Nightmare (0-4), 89-0... Next game: At home vs. Slaycity Slayers (3-1)... Last week: #5 (+2)

4. Tricity Cardinals (4-0), 49.409
Tricity has had an easy schedule thus far (5th easiest), and they've used their weak competition to propel themselves to a pretty good start. The Cardinal offense has been consistent thus far in the season, which means good things for the organization. I don't see the Cardinals slowing down any time soon with Kansas next on their radar. Last game: Win at Blacksburg Gobblers (0-4), 39-3... Next game: At home vs. Kansas Twisters (1-3)... Last week: #4 (same)

5. Turin Falcons (4-0), 45.484
The Italian Imports have been doing pretty well this season, but nothing has happened thus far that has made me say, "lol wow wtf this tm isnt teh ghey." Less than spectacular wins over bottom feeder Blacksburg and overrated Chicago leave me to wonder if the Falcons can win against a similarly-leveled team. Last game: Win vs. North Shore Sharks (2-2), 20-16... Next game: Away at D.C. Corrpution (2-2)... Last week: #2 (-3)

6. More Cowbells (4-0), 42.439
Led by the prominent kicker Scott Buck, the Cowbells come in at sixth this week despite four straight solid performances. All four of the Cowbells' wins have been by two scores or more, so that shows you this team has firepower. Quite a shame though that the Cowbells owner had to create his entire starting roster due to recruiting problems. At least they're winning. Last game: At home vs. Panthers Syndicate (2-2), 36-13... Next game: Away at Austin Orangebloods (4-0)... Last week: #7 (+1)

7. Rocky Mountain Snipers (3-1), 32.829
The only blemish on the Snipers' season so far is the loss to the Orangebloods, but I'm sure that can be easily fixed with two somewhat-easy teams ahead for them in the next two weeks. Let's see what the offense and defense are capable of against CSA. Last game: Win vs. Cochabamba Pirates (2-2), 48-20... Next game: Away at College Station Aggies (1-3)... Last week: #8 (+1)

8. Slaycity Slayers (3-1), 32.554
Slaycity moves up a pair of spots in this week's power rankings after a dominating win over the previously unbeaten Shelby Bearcats. Can this team handle the league's best offense and defense for their next game against third-ranked Las Vegas? Last game: Win vs. Shelby Bearcats (3-1), 27-3... Next game: At home vs. Middle Tennessee Fightin' Catfish (1-3)... Last week: #10 (+2)

9. Panthers Syndicate (2-2), 30.245
You may be wondering why a 2-2 team is ahead of several 3-1 teams, so here's why. The Panthers have played the fifth hardest schedule up to this point and came away with two wins while keeping the margin of defeat down to just two points per game. Their ranking may also have something to do with the lack of statistics required for a highly accurate ranking. Last game: Loss at More Cowbells (4-0), 13-16... Next game: At home vs. Omaha BA Mofos (3-1)... Last week: #13 (+4)

10. South Bend Red Raiders (3-1), 26.752
South Bend's three wins have come against mediocre teams, and their loss to Fortaleza in Week Two proves they need to step it up against greater competition. The Red Raider offense has been functioning quite well, putting up a lot of points on the scoreboard. A meeting with Dallas should be good news to those who own Red Raider players on your GLB FF team. Last game: Win vs. Austin Extreme (0-4), 51-10... Next game: Away at Dallas Texans (0-4)... Last week: #17 (+7)

CURRENTLY TEABAGGED

11. Shelby Bearcats (3-1), 23.75
12. Dirty South Brew Crew (3-1), 23.294
13. Colony 195 Defenders (2-2), 23.017
14. North Shore Sharks (2-2), 22.092
15. Omaha Bad Ass Mofos (3-1), 21.9
16. Chicago Hitmen (1-3), 21.684

THE CREAMY, CRAPPY MIDDLE

17. Blacksburg Gobblers (0-4), 21.176
18. Dayton Goatse (2-2), 14.515
19. Compton Cougars (2-2), 10.139
20. Cochabamba Pirates (2-2), 9.964
21. D.C. Corruption (2-2), 5.387
22. South Park ManBearPigs (2-2), 4.537

MORE SHITTY THAN 2GIRLS1CUP

23. Mojave Desert Lions (2-2), 3.787
24. Mile High Mustangs (0-4), -1.706
25. Austin Extreme (0-4), -6.631
26. Kansas Twisters (1-3), -6.998
27. College Station Aggies (1-3), -13.601
28. Dallas Texans (0-4), -15.885

TEAMS THAT FAIL AT LIFE

29. Philadelphia Nightmare (0-4), -17.06
30. Middle Tennessee Fightin' Catfish (1-3), -20.744
31. Buffalo Stampede (0-4), -29.038
32. Sacramento South Side Psychos (0-4), -34.816

CONCLUSION AND DISCUSSION

Since it is still quite early in the season, these rankings may not (most likely are not) completely accurate. Four games of information cannot sort the teams into their respective tiers; it will take approximately four more games before we start to see where each of the 32 teams lie.

And this is just a temporary fill-in for gtbice until he gets back... I have no intentions of continuing to do sPR for A#3 once gtbice returns to GLB.

There you have it, your UNOFFICIAL USA A#3 Power Rankings!

Now... DISCUSS!

Nice Sawedust. I look forward to seeing where Omaha will lie after the Syndicate bows down tomorrow. Btw, Candyman, the Psychos have had no chance in this league since day 1.

Good stuff. I'm always superstitious about power rankings though. I hate being at or near the top. You have nowhere to go but down.

Great write-up sawedust! Takes a lot of time to do this and I know we all appreciate the time and effort that goes into this write up.

Did the rankings take into consideration the coachs/players poll? I would consider it's influence to a nomimal or minimal amount just to see if it tweaked the ratings any.

I appreciate the love for the Flyin' E but we have much to prove yet...AND WE REALLY CAN'T WAIT to face some tougher competition - looking forward to the 'tough' part of our season!

Good luck to you all! Let's get it on!
