Some great games on slate for today and the only sure-shot underdogs are RR and FEEBLE so with that said let's get started:
Alpha
Honolulu Hurricane Wife Carriers vs. Rosarica Titans of Fire
Both teams coming off of a disappointing first week back in the WL look to take out the frustration on each other. Honolulu lost to SLAP champs Osaka in a shoot out that featured a stagnant HHWC offense until the fourth quarter and it was just too little too late. The Titans of Fire enter today's match-up feeling less then confident after their offense never seemed to get things going and even Christ http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1084871 couldn't swing this one their way. Vegas says Wife Carriers by 10, I'll take them by 17.
Honolulu 45
RToF 28
Lake Opeta Legionnaires vs. Parma Panthers
Battle of WL NEWBS features a very talented but young LOL against the "who dey" Panthers. The Panthers had a terrible draw week one and either their defense was just that bad or Gunnies has figured out a few things offensively either way the closest the Panthers were to winning was the 50/50 coin flip to start the game. Meanwhile LOL was given more then they could handle by the Mad Clash but were actually competitive for 3 of the four quarters (seriously WTF happened in the second quarter?). Vegas says LOL by 12 but i say the Panthers earn some respect back taking this one in a nail-biter
Parma 45
LOL 42
Queen City Black Cats vs. So Cal BDC
Battle of WL vets pits two traditionally middle tier WL teams against each other in what is sure to be a shoot out. QCBC received a favorable draw pulling one of the one year too early teams and winning in dominant fashion putting on a clinic in ball control offense. So Cal struggled stopping the run (or anything for that matter) against Saigon who are one of the top three teams in the WL. However So Cal has an Ace in the hole and although Vegas says QCBC by 3 I'm going to go with So Cal by 12
So Cal 54
QCBC 42
Cobra Kai vs. Nashville Hounds
Leg Bit has become the theme to this rivalry as the two seem to go back and forth with Hounds claiming the most recent victory. The Kai started the new season with a backfield that appeared to be in complete disarray against the No Hobos whilst the Hounds put on a dominant performance against the Defending WL runner-ups. Lace 'em up boys as Vegas has the Hounds as 6 point favorites but I'll take the Kai by 3
Final Score:
Kai 37
Hounds 34
Haliapathy Expl0cares vs. Defenders of the Ancients
DOTA vs. Hali, if the names alone don't get you pumped then you're in for a day. Dota suprisingly pulled off the win in week one although they were pitted against FEEBLE and they put on a pretty stout offensive display however they are hitting WL powerhouse this week in 0cares who showed the Garudas that not only can hali put up points in a hurry but sometimes KD guesses right for their defense and expect him to be spot on despite 0 gameplanning for this one . Vegas says Hali by 10 but i'll take Hali by 28
Haliapathy 63
DotA 35
Charlesburgh-Scranton Iron Invaders vs. Tyrrhenian Sea Wasps
CSII vs. Sea Wasps.........what more can be said. Both teams are looking like bottom dwellars early but look to turn that around using the other as a spring board (hey someone has to win right........nb4tie). CSII drew Speyside and suprisingly they were the team that arrived drunk and were quickly escorted off the field in a rout. The Sea Wasps drew a seemingly easier matchup against the current 50 win streak Monowi squad and were swatted down like mere pests. Vegas says CSII by 2 and i'll take CSII by 3.
CSII 38
Wasps 35
Mayan Prophecy vs. Blue Renegade Wino Smurfs of Funkalicious Labatt
Some bad blood is getting ready to be resolved on the field where dots rumble. Wino coming off of getting rocked look to bounce back from their welcome to the WL handed down by Cincy a mere week ago whereas Mayan looks to sober up from their celebration after beating the defending champs in a shootout for the ages. Mayan walks in with a dominant passing attack looking to "strike first, strike hard, show no mercy" but Labatt looks to give the ball to blue and keep Shame off the field. Who establishes their style? Vegas picks Mayan by 23 but i'll give the Blue crew a little more respect and say they keep it to two scores.
Mayan 45
Wino 31
District 9 Prawns vs. Sin City Silent Assassins
On the outside it looks like it should be an excellent matchup...........afterall the headlines for this one read battle of the 1-0's but on closer review D9 are huge favorites after beating a very good gurupies squad in convincing fashion. Sin City came through with a stout rushing attack and solid defense but were relatively untested and D9 brings an elite passing attack to the game. This one's over before it begins, Vegas says D9 by 21 but i'll take them by 35
D9 63
Sin City 28
Zeta:
College Town NWA Feeble Minds vs. Korb Destroyers
Very interesting matchup as both teams will have to scrap from here on out just to finish in the top 12 of zeta. Korb comes in with a precise but less then explosive offense that they put on display in a GLB close game vs QC. On the otherhand FEEBLE was just dominated by DotA and lacked any flare whatsoever offensively speaking. Not sure what else i can say other then GL. Vegas says Korb by 24 and i agree.
Korb 38
Feeble 14
Lincoln Navigators vs. Speyside Whisky Dogs
Any other week this is GotW. Speyside looked just flat out inspired week 1 and look to roll with the momentum and their dominant two back system against Lincoln however the STOPs in Lincoln dominate everyone they face and the offense and defense there aren't too bad either . A surprising loss to Nashville week 1 has Lincoln scrambling for answers and Vegas says they won't find them here, Speyside by 10 but i'll go with Lincoln bouncing back and pulling off a tight one. Either way this is must see GLB waiting to happen!
Lincoln 38
Speyside 35
Cincinnati Shockers vs. Chocolate Blaze
A tale of two giants pits the Blaze stumbling after a surprise early defeat against the only World League team against the defending champs. (hoping i didn't mess that up ) Cincy scouts put on a clinic and put Wino in their place in commanding fashion while the Blaze offense quickly went back to last seasons form but their secondary stumbled mightily against Mayan and they just came up short. Either Cincy wins close or the Blaze feed them fumes. Vegas says Cincy by 3 but i'll go with Choco by 18.
Blaze 63
Shockers 45
Monowi Wowi vs. Carthage Mad Clash
Carthage claims the end of Wowi's streak in the forums but can they come through? Both teams completely dominated week one against "lesser" WL competition and find themselves pitted in the same cage. Wowi has shown offensive dominance and a stout defense thus far but really have only played decent teams in lolscrims so there's not much to go off of there whereas the clash were highly competitive last season and seemingly have only gotten better. Both teams can pass. Both teams run to setup the pass and both teams defend both pretty effectively. Vegas says Wowi by 10 but i'll go clash by 10. Something has gotta give!
Carthage 41
Wowi 31
Alpine vs. The Osaka Buckeyes
A solid matchup between fairly even teams both looking at solid playoff spots. Buckeyes enter following a good win against HHWC and have an explosive offense and stingy defense. Alpine after losing Jackson just isn't dominant on offense but they aren't anything to look past and their defense holds its own against the best of the best. Vegas says Buckeyes by 5 but i'll take alpine by 10
Alpine 45
Buckeyes 35
Gunny Highway's Recon Platoon vs. Indianapolis Gurupies
Gunny haz offense? Opening week and gunnies defense was less then int spectacular but still the best in the league but their offensive display has teams turning heads as not only did they run all over parma (no surprise) but they actually fielded a pretty stout passing assault although some of that is attributed to lack of a premiere team facing the offense. Nonetheless the Gurupies usually stout defense is going to need to be on alert after struggling out of the gates against D9. The gurupies on the other hand have a fairly good offense but it needs to be great for them to pull of this mild upset. Vegas says NGTH and picks gunnies by 21 but i say not so fast and will take gunnies by 7.
Gunny 35
Indy 28
Russian Revolution vs. Moose Jaw Roughriders
No Hobos vs. the one man army! RR just doesn't seem up to snuff thus far in their WL debut while the roughriders continue to show why they belong here beating an elite squad right out of the gates. Moose Jaws defense continues to be a top 3 defense and their offense seems to either just do enough most games and such was the case last week. RR just struggled offensively but fielded a defense that would have given most teams a shot to win. Vegas says the offensive woahs in russia continue and No Hobos win by 21 and i agree
Moose 24
Russian 3
Saigon Whores vs. Krungthep Garudas
Saigon is rollin and Krugthep just isn't even close to being on the same level. Card Shark is precise, dot right is explosive and coo chee is a pimp. Krungthep is young, talented but just a season too early to the WL. Vegas says Saigon by 14 but i'll take them by 35
Saigon 63
