What would the best position be for a dedicated special teams specialist? He'd have to cover all types of special teams, returns and coverage.

I'm thinking defensive secondary, either CB or FS. Free points in speed, agility, vision, and tackling. Skill points would go into speed, tackling, blocking as majors, and vision, agility, and strength as minors.

But what about special abilities? Which special abilities would help on special teams? Super vision, first step...?

On a proportional basis, a special teams specialist might look like this, fully built:

Strength: 6
Speed: 10
Agility: 5
Stamina: 2
Vision: 6
Blocking: 7
Tackling: 9

All others: N/A.

My personal choice for a two-way dedicated Special Teamer - DE - and it's a no-brainer to me.

DE looks promising.

I'm not as "up" on every position's SAs as I'd like to be.

Thanks for the input! This will be my next project. Gotta wait for next season, my budget for FPs is done for this season.

Agility has to be higher than that.. The faster you get off the ball, the faster you get down there, the less yards the other team gets.

I'd say SS you get super vision and closing speed early in the trees

cb gets kr spec and super vision.....id say either that or hb

cb would be cheaper to boost but hb you could build mostly normally

Safeties.

SS with change direction, super vision, closing speed, wrap up, diving tackle, growl, big hit and monster hit. All of which are useful on special teams.

I am building a guard that is one hell of a wedge buster.

My CB is great at Special Teams. I usually get there 1st and make the tackle with only 1 teamate nearby. Otherwise its 100% me. I dunno tho, I think someone with good speed, agility, vision, and decent tackling should be great at it.

cb as a returner
ss as a st gunner

both can still function as a backup with an ideal st build

SS is the best pursuer of any position. Speed, Vision, Agility (in that order) and pump points into closing speed. My SS gets mostly backup snaps but plays ST. He gets bunches of tackles on on returners. He gets there fast and always takes a good angle due to high vision.

I gotta say, my DE started on kick and punt coverage this year and he has rocked it. I had 5 tackles in each of the first 3 games on ST plays alone. It's settled down a bit since then, but I think the combo of high speed, strength and agility really help.
