Guadalcanal Gunners

Outside of Honiara, along the Kukum Highway towards the original site of Henderson Field lies General McArthur Stadium. It isn’t a pretty stadium by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s quickly becoming the favorite place for people to gather on game days. http://www.rocketroberts.com/korea/images/papasan_w_cow_at_koje-do.jpg
As you enter, you’ll pass through the ticket booth/main entrance, an 8 foot earthen berm and sandbags. http://www.rocketroberts.com/korea/images/machine_gun_bunker_in_trench.jpg

Once you enter, the stands are to your right and left with a break between the endzones. Vendor city is located behind both endzones, latrines are also located here for your convenience also. They’ll gladly sell you beer or food or a nice commemorative helmet. http://www.rocketroberts.com/korea/images/korea_04.jpg -one of our friendly vendors.
http://www.rocketroberts.com/korea/images/korea_14.jpg -For our upscale fan we offer an onsite barber for any of your grooming needs
Homefield advantage is provided by the rowdy local crowd and some added details such as the two watchtowers perched over the field, one in the opposing corners of each endzone, An anti aircraft gun originally from the USS Enterprise and a 155 mm howitzer which fires off whenever the Gunners reach the red zone or score a touchdown.

http://www.walbertonag.org.uk/index_files/FIRING%20155MM%20HOWITZER%20TO%20SEA.jpg on field gun fires every time the offense gets in the red zone or scores a touchdown. The only complaint so far have come from the players who wished that their locker room was a little more extravagent than it is.

Overall, the Gunners are happy with their home and guarantee a long commitment to Guadalcanal and it’s community. Future expansion is expected to fit more of the dedicated and rabid Gunner fans.

Post your stadium tour or pm me with details and i'll do my best to write you one.

Ayers Rock Arena

In the shadow of Uluru (Ayers Rock to the non-pijantjatjara) lies the stadium. It’s so enviromentally friendly that you can’t even see it. It actually only exists inside the Dreaming so new fans sometimes have a hard time finding it.

I really like these writeups, they are entertaining and seem to accurately fit both sites so far. I am sending you details about my stadium, and I would appreciate it if you do a writeup about mine as well!

Hawthorn Headhunters-- The Hawthorn Guillotine

Open this then reduce it- http://youtube.com/watch?v=WFmg1C4VUkQ&feature=related Stadium rock

During league expansion talks, the Headhunters chose Hawthorn, a suburb of Melbourne as their team headquarters. Many locations for their stadium were considered but ultimately the now unused Glenfarrie Oval was chosen for the site of the new stadium, the Hawthorn Guillotine.
http://www.austadiums.com/stadiums/stadiums_maps.php?id=8 Demolition/Pre construction view.

A extremely large amount of money was spent on upgrading the oval, including an agreement with the local government to reroute the Belgrave/Lilydale rail lines to provide for all future expansions that the owners imagined. The government provided ample funding for this but stipulated that the Headhunters would agree to lease the space for at least 100 seasons. At the time of this article the owner of the team, CoachB05, couldn’t be reached for comment but the land has been renovated and a stadium constructed, so the deal must have been made.

Construction didn’t go smoothly though, as shady contractors reneged on their contracts and snuck away in the night without completing the western endzone in time for the new season.

Recently the contractors have been detained in Tijuana and are awaiting extradition. The owner plans to recoup all expenses plus damages to the tune of 3 million Australian dollars. No word yet on a time frame for the cash recovery but he hopes it’s before the start of season 4 as stadium expansion of at least 3 corners is guaranteed, a 4th corner and the unfinished endzone can be completed if the lawsuit passes through quickly but is unlikely.

The team has a unique spin on entertainment. They want to keep their fans riveted and their rivals scared out of their minds and they have 2 different approaches to it. The first is their mascot, , who prowls the opponents sidelines hexing the players and spitting on the coaches.

The other is the guillotine, which they call the Headmaster 5000, that they wheel past the opposing teams bench and during the halftime show chop off the head of a person wearing an opposing teams jersey that they pull out of the stands. Of course this was all smoke and mirrors as the person pulled from the stands was a convicted murderer slated for execution and not an innocent bystander but it was a show meant to dishearten and disturb the opposition. Besides the miles of paperwork involved and the numerous lawsuits since filed against the Headhunters, this practice used during preseason has been discontinued. Now they use a mannequin but continue the practice of the victim wearing an opposing team jersey and pulling him from the stands.
