Malawi Pride Time:Weeks 1-3
By Kenyatta Dbui
Does the Pride's scoreboard work?
Standing at week 4 now looking back through the first 3 weeks the Pride is still trying to find that spark. They have been outscored 60-40 in three games so far this year. If you want answers then look no further than the man who leads this low scoring offense; Prides QB Ace Ayala. I had a chance to talk to him after the Pride's most recent game against the Kalahari Vikings.
KD-Ace, so what gives for the low scores and poor performances so far this year?
AA-It isn't one thing that plagues the offense.
KD-So your saying you can't lead this team out of a wet paper bag then huh? You are not ready to take charge and lead. Intimidated by the more experienced defenses in the league?
AA-Those are fair questions from someone who watches the games from the press box. First off, I can and will lead this team. Second, the Malawi Pride isn't scared of anyone. We show the upmost respect to all the teams we play yet back down from none. Sure we are 0-3 but look past from your vantage point in the press box.
KD-Go on.
AA-The scores have been close in all three games at one point.
KD-Yea, at the start when it was 0-0.
AA-Besides that, one or two plays blew those games open to their favor. Take them back and the game could have gone the other way.
KD-If's and's and but's. With this much back peddling I'm surprised you got sacked twice this year against the Buckeye Nation.
AA-The point is the Pride will start turning things around and with that I got nothing more to say.
After that brief interview I still feel the Pride has much to learn and prove in this league. Will Ace actually back up those words with better performance on the field? Fans; things are bleak in Malawi but there is a bright spot. I don't think they will be regulated down to AA if they can win the crucial games against those in contention to go down. Yes, they are young but they need all the luck they can get. Next report in a few weeks. KD out.
