The Zeta Playoff Picture is shaping up to be a good one.

The top four teams have all but clinched their respective spots, while the next four spots are interchangeable at this point.

The top three teams have proven that they are the cream of the crop and have also proved that no team is destined for the title game this season. Scorpion has beaten both of the other two top three teams, but when looking at the games individually things take an odd shape.

Scorpion barely survived a late scare against Barcelona, but they crushed Nuremberg. Nuremberg crushed Barcelona, but lost to Scorpion. Barcelona stood their ground against Scorpion, but were blown out by Nuremberg. Confused yet? Well, in a nutshell, it just means that any of these teams have a shot at the Zeta title this season.

A slip up by Big Island in the coming weeks could make figuring out the 4, 5, 6, and 7 seeds a HUGE mess. Big Island has a game on Wroclaw, Algoma, and Stroudsburg but they all have some decent games at the end. One loss by Big Island could cause havoc here. This scenario is most likely to play out as they still have to play Scorpion later on in the week.

Wroclaw, Algoma, and Stroudsburg control their own fate on who they will play. Regardless of seeding they'll have a tough time taking down the big three in the first round.

The beautiful thing about the next few games is that these teams all play each other over the next week or so and they all control their own destiny.

Here are the current playoff seedings as determined by record:

1. Scorpion Phalanx - The top team in the conference. Their two greatest opponents were Barcelona and Nuremberg. They beat them both. They barely escaped Barcelona, but all that matters is the win. They should finish out as the number one seed with no problem and should already be looking towards their second round matchup, most likely against whoever survives the Algoma, Big Island, Wroclaw, Stroudsburg mess.

2. Nuremberg Night Hawks - Just coming off a huge win against Barcelona they have all but secured that number two seed. They'll likely face the loser of the Algoma, Big Island, Wroclaw, Stroudsburg mess and should be able to get to the second round of the playoffs easily. They'll more than likely be setup for a rematch against Barcelona here.

3. Barcelona Chupacabras - Tough loss against Nuremberg with the number two seed on the line. They failed to produce and now are looking in their rear view mirror at Big Island. They should win out and enter the playoffs as the three seed with no problem. Their first round matchup will be against a middle team in the Algoma, Big Island, Wroclaw, Stroudsburg mess. This team is on upset alert in the first round of the playoffs.

4-7. Big Island Growas, Algoma Beach Tokers, Wroclaw Wolverines, Stroudsburg Gators - Tough road ahead. No telling where this team will end up. They hold their destiny in their own hands. They have a good team here and could end up fourth or seventh. There just isn't enough data right now to really figure anything out because of the Algoma, Big Island, Wroclaw, Stroudsburg mess.

8. Montreal Ice - These guys are holding on to the final playoff spot by the hair on their chin. Two very tough games against Scorpion and Big Island. They could completely miss the playoffs if they aren't careful.

Excellent writeup. I'll disagree with the "crushed" in your comment about our matchup, simply our offense was hiding somewhere that's all.

The Growas, Tokers, Wolverines and Gators scenario should provide for interesting games. I know we have the Gators and Growas our last two games, and getting that 4th seed is extremely important for obvious reasons.

They didn't score much, but shut you guys down. "Crushed" may be a bit hard, but it was late and the only thing I could think of. LOL

thanks for this write -up ... Lefkada have underperformed a bit compared to pre-season expectations, but most of the offense is 500+ days old, and that just doesn't help matters. I'm gald to be at least semi-competitive for the first time in 3 seasons, having put in a very young defense.
