This is a great week for competition as 6 out of the 8 contests are between closely ranked teams. On the field of battle, who will stand triumphant.
--------------Mismatches----------------------
Noumea Mantas (16) vs Newcastle Mountain Lions (3)
The Lions will continue it's shutout streak against the Mantas. Feeding time isn't pretty (for some reason it involves a 10 by 10 cage instead of a more humane free range enclosure)
Lions feast by 24 but the Mantas can earn a moral victory by scoring any points
Lexington Armada (15) vs Perth Pirates (16)
If this was a relegation league then this game would determine one of the fallen. The pirates finally get to plunder as the Armada is thinly defended.
Pirates finally find some booty- win by 27
Fiji Flying Foxes (5) vs Tasmanian Swarm (7)
They're ranked not far apart but this is going to get ugly as the Foxes rage is directed at the swarm. The main bug killer will be Speedy Wonder as he stomps bugs all day on his way to the endzone. It's a bad day to have a food related name as King Taco, the QB for the Swarm finds out as the D-line feasts on him.
Fiji means business, wins by 42
-------------------games of interest--------------
WSP (7) vs Redcliffe Sharks (13)
The Sharks are going smell blood as their run game pummels the Pussycats but WSP's twin HB's will return every blow. This is going to come down to the wire.
WSP pulls it out in the closing minutes by 7
Devonport Devils (11) vs Rockhampton Raiders (10)
Rockhampton hasn't been as explosive as expected but I think this is the game they finally get turned around. The Devils want to open the pits of Hell on the Raiders.
Raiders outplay the Devils, win by 17
Guadalcanal Gunners (4) vs Dharma Initiative (9)
First thing, Nottom, can you give me the coordinates to your island. We can't find it on any map. Second, there will be no upset even though Dharma will throw everything they have at the Gunners. .The Hulk gets angry and tries to tear through the D-line, Jan Montino and Catchy McCatcherson tests the corners and Great TE tests the secondary to no effect. The defense holds and the Gunners purge the Initiative
Gunners by 10
------------------Spotlight Game-----------------------
ASRW (1) vs Fiji Stingers (2)
The marquee game and the masterminds of ASRW are already up to their tricks by hiding their depth chart. They want to take down the Stingers and retain their throne atop Zeta. The Stingers are beyond human comprehension. Who's their leader, which direction will they swarm? No one can predict their thinking or attempt to negotiate with them.
ASRW fights hard and receives numerous wounds but emerges victorious by 6
-----------------UPSET SPECIAL--------------------
Brisbane Troyfins (12) vs Hamilton Falcons (8)
Last game the Falcons pulled off the upset, this game they get upset by a Troyfin team that finally comes together. Impermeable Force DT is going to pitch a tent in the backfield and singlehandedly destoy Hamilton's newly formed cohesiveness. Rick Dee QB and Denis Lemieux will cause the pain on the other side of the ball
Troyfins for the win by 10
