Then you take the winners of each Division in the ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 16, SEC... 12 TEAMS.

Have 4 at-large bids from the best of the rest including a potential sleeper from 1 of the other conferences.

16 team post season tournament that would generate mega-bucks to determine the National Champion

I like this. Do you make each conference that has two divisions have a conference championship?

I like it but I doubt if Notre Dame joins the Big 10 in which they should with these conferences becoming power conferences. I think they will regret it in the long run.

I think that they will end up joining the Big Ten sooner then later.. they didn't before because they were a national powerhouse with their own network deal.. but I can't see NBC continuing to shell out that much cash for a losing program.. they need help with the draw soon!!

I would like to think so but Notre Dame has always given me the impressions that they do not need anyone to be successful so they will stay independent. It is like having a big ego.

When these power conferences reallign, the networks will put even more focus into these conferences. NBC will join the other networks and Notre Dame will eventually lose it's contract and the funds will diminish. They will at this time be forced to join a major conference but it will be too late to join conferences like the Big 10 or SEC.

I am just going by what I hear from friends that are huge Irish fans. I hope they are wrong and Salesman is right.

As a K-State fan and long time fan of the Big 8/Big 12 this SUCKS.

Big 12 has no one to blame but themselves for shitty TV contracts and bad $$ distribution throughout the conference. That and stupid Nebraska selling themselves out like a cheap whore to highest bidder. If Nebraska does seal the deal with the big Tenelven, which ultimately I can't blame them, than bye bye Big 12 south to the PAC 10 AND bye bye Big 12 period. A sad day in college sports.

edit to you irish Fans:
The future of the Big 12 appears to continue to hinge on the Big Ten's deliberations with Notre Dame. The Big Ten has promised Notre Dame it will stop its expansion at 12 schools if Notre Dame agrees to finally forgo its independence and become part of a conference, an athletic director with knowledge of the Big Ten has told Orangebloods.com.

Two different executives in the Big 12 confirmed to Orangebloods.com on Wednesday morning the hard deadline for Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado and the entire Big 12 to pledge their allegiance to each other is Monday, June 14. A high-level executive at a Big 12 institution said there have been informal conversations about who to add to the Big 12 if schools start to leave. Those schools have included BYU and Air Force.

But that same executive as well as others in the Big 12 have told Orangebloods.com the conference will not survive if Nebraska leaves - no matter who else stays or goes. If Nebraska were to stay in the Big 12 and Missouri and Colorado were to leave, for example, the sense is the Big 12 could attempt to add schools like BYU and Air Force to the Big 12 North and move ahead.

SO Norte Dame signs with the Big 10, Nebraska Stays, thus Texas Schools stay as they Texas Reps have gone on record and said if Nebraska stays in the big 12, they stay.

Orangebloods.com is the best source in the entire Rivals network.
I threw the alignments out for fun and to generate some thinking. I'm old school and like the bowls and the old Big-8, and SWC, but those day's are long gone

EDIT: It would be nice if ND went to the Big Ten and the Big 12 help pat tbh

Hope your geography was better in HS.

Illinois. Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Notre Dame are all WEST of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State.

This alignment would be way to WEST Division Heavy in Football with Nebraska, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan

Going to be tough to come up with a way to separate the teams in the B10, but I am not a fan of that alignment.

In related news, I guess we are closer to a "playoff" system at the Divison I level.

Because "tradition" is going out the window in lieu of money and greed (shocking).

* * scratches head * *

Wouldn't a "Playoff" system bring in the same dollars (if not more)... and actually keep the other sports "traditions" alive...

Bottom line: NCAA is a joke... can't wait for the Pac 16 to start play.

i would be curious to get your honest feelings on this.......

fwiw, I hate NU as much as I hate KU BUT I respect the fans and the community (at least the non-drunk ones). NU Fans are Very knowledgeable and have been courteous almost every-time I have been to Lincoln for football/basketball games.
