Well folks, it's that time again! We are gonna get things rolling a bit early this time to get in plenty of smack talk! And we do encourage the smack talk!
Algerian Tigers at Zambia Zombies
This will be the Zombies toughest task as the Tigers have done something no other Zombie opponent has been able to do, WIN A GAME! After an offensive showing at Morningside, Algeria will try and move the ball against one of the best defenses in Africa. The Tigers' defense has held up well in the first two games, and will be sorely tested. In the end, the Tigers get overwhelmed visiting the second largest stadium in the conference and quickly wilt under the offensive and defensive pressure the Zombies will bring to bear.
Tigers 10 - Zombies 35
Zulu Warriors at Tripoli Leathernecks
This is a tough game to call because the Zulu's have faced to fearsome opponents and have not been allowed to get anything going on offense or defense. Tripoli will be flying blind in the scouting report. However, I think the demoralized Warriors will continue their skid in a close game against Tripoli. If the Leathernecks can get past the Warriors, they have a great chance to get on winning streak.
Zulu 10 - Tipoli 24
Monterey Magic at Zimbabwe Mighty Zulu Nation
Does the Gameday crew even need to comment on this one? The Magic were blown out by Zambia last week while Zimbabwe handled Zulu with equal ease. Expect history to repeat for both teams this week as Monterey continues to wait for their first win.
Monterey 0 - Zimbabwe 45
West Virginia Mountainmen at Morningside Candysnatcher
The Mountainen's offense came alive against the Virus last week while the Candysnatcher's disappeared against Algeria. Don't expect a different result this week as West Virginia seeks to become an early playoff favorite and prove they have one of the best defenses in Elephant. The only think the Mountainmen have to watch out for is looking ahead to next week's match up with the Zombies.
West Virginia 30 - Morningside 10
Ethiopian Food Mongers at West Nile Virus
Ethiopia hasn't made any progress on their roster and it doesn't look like West Nile has made any progress on their pass defense. If Ethiopia wants to win this one, it needs to be done through the air. In the end, the Virus continue to have turnover problems and the Food Mongers find the vaccine for an 0-2 record.
Ethiopia 13 - West Nile 10
...more to come.
Burundi Broncos at Salty Shellback
This matchup features two teams with unblemished record, one of the positive side, one on the negative. Both teams came close last week to winning/losing respectively. This is a very interesting match up in that both teams have limited and young depth but a few studs on both lines. With Shellbacks being strong at DE and the Broncos excelling up the middle with great DT's. If the Salty QB's can get some time to find their monster TE, they should see success, however they'll have to beat a good pair of Bronco LB's. Unfortunately for the Bronco's, I see the Salty line as up to the task, while not high leveled they feature some decent depth at G, facing the strength of the Bronco defensive attack. It's going to be a defensive battle, but one the Salty win.
Burundi 6 - Salty 10
Charlie Don't Surf at Sahara Sandstorm
To say these two teams are inconsistent is putting it mildly. Sahara blasted their first opponent by 60 and then played a lovefest against TORO with 8 turnovers! Charlie gave Zimbabwe a scare and then eeked out a win against Tripoli. Which teams show up? I am gonna go out on a limb and say the Sahara team from week one shows up, which means it matters not for Charlie whether they show up. A Sandstorm warning has been issued.
Charlie 3 - Sahara 35
TORO's TEXANS at Gambia Pirhanas
TORO's has dropped two games to playoff contenders while Gambia has dined on bottom feeders. Gambia is the dog on paper and I like TORO's in this game. Their defense plays into the strength of the Pirhanas' offense and should be able to keep Gambia in check. Normally, I would like Gambia if not for TORO's kicking game which is the best in 3A2. Expect the TEXANS to win the field position game and to get plenty of FG's.
TORO'S 19 - Gambia 10
GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS!
