Just going to go through the Alpha Conference teams as I think they will finish at the end of the season. This could very well change if teams get reshuffled and/or if they finish up some recruiting.
#1 Istanbul Titans
# Players on Roster: 50
Effective Level: 891 (Level 69)
Overview: We have the deepest team of the high echelon teams and we don't have any depth chart weaknesses. Since the effective level doesn't appear to include decline factors, it can be misleading. I may be biased here, but I think our young, deep team will take the conference title.
#2 Deuce Bigalow's Gridiron Gigolo's
# Players on Roster: 43
Effective Level: 900 (Level 71)
Overview: I see a lot of promise with this team, they have very solid builds with an effective level 10 levels higher than their actual levels. The only fault I see with this team is that they are short-handed on the offensive line, with only 2 Gs and 2 OTs. With confidence being a big deal this season, their line won't have any room for error. If one cries, they all cry.
#3 New Jersey Wardogs
# Players on Roster: 35
Effective Level: 945 (Level 73)
Overview: These guys out-leveled the Titans last season and we beat them twice. Since I think they are one of the biggest threats in the league, that is why I give us the title. They are missing a few pieces on the offensive line, with no G backups and only one OT backup. That means they only have 7 guys for 5 OLine positions, all game long. You think defensive lines might wear them down? Also, expect these guys to run the ball a lot, considering they only have 1 WR and 0 TEs.
#4 Palermo Panthers
# Players on Roster: 27
Effective Level: 973 (Level 74)
Overview: I have no idea where to put these guys. Heading into this season, you would have thought they were the favorites. They were probably the last team not to be promoted to the Pros and they put a beat down on us in the final regular season game. Then they seem to have almost given up. It is currently Day 47 and they only have 27 guys on their roster? They are short handed in so many areas, it's almost too much to list. The worst is the OLine, where they only have 4 guys total, not to montion that the agent of all 4 guys has been inactive for about a week. These guys could be trouble if they start recruiting, but for now, we would be playing a team that is almost 50% CPU. Gotta hope we play them early in the season before they wake up.
#5 The Hague Hustlers
# Players on Roster: 46
Effective Level: 783 (Level 56)
Overview: This team is very good considering their levels. They nearly knocked off the Titans last season, despite us having them by over 10 levels. 6th place in AAA ball with a team like that tells me that these guys could surprise a lot of people who don't know better. They've got to have some real studs at game plannning.
#6 Port City Hurricane
# Players on Roster: 44
Effective Level: 933 (Level 73)
Overview: This could very well be the oldest team in all of GLB. I started to go down the list of their roster and I saw more guys who were 500+ days than guys who weren't. I was laughing so hard, I had to stop looking. Honestly, if this team had guys who were 100 days younger, they would be a force. As they are now, they will just be the kind of team that looks good on paper then loses by 80.
#7 Cochabamba Stars
# Players on Roster: 42
Effective Level: 869 (Level 67)
Overview: This is a solid, but not great team. They have a well-balanced roster (only need 1 more G to be considered full), but many of their players are in crazy-decline. I saw a few 550+ day guys, but heopefully they aren't starting those guys. You gotta wonder a bit why they only finished 10-6 in AA last season with a roster that was high-leveled than many of their competitors.
#8 Puffington Magic Dragons
# Players on Roster: 53
Effective Level: 775 (Level 55)
Overview: Young deep team, but you have to wonder why their team's effective level (55) is only two higher than their average level (53). Maybe they are not the best builds around? They were a good team last season in AA ball, finishing 13-3, which is why I gave them the nod for the last playoff spot. They shouldn't be too much of a threat to the higher teams, at least until their dots get older and higher leveled.
#9 Ithaca Warriors
# Players on Roster: 43
Effective Level: 805 (Level 59)
Overview: These guys are young and talented, but they are at least one season away from being a contender here. It is GLB, after all, and you need the levels to win. They just don't have that yet.
#10 Nevada Farm Boys
# Players on Roster: 40
Effective Level: 908 (Level 71)
Overview: They finished 12th in the conference last season with only one victory against a non-CPU team (by one point over HOP). I thought this team would be good a couple of seasons ago, but they just seem to be missing something.
#11 House of Pain
# Players on Roster: 38
Effective Level: 900 (Level 71)
Overview: They finished 11th in the conference with pretty much the same roster. The only problem? This already old team is now even older. Won't be able to compete and will be unbearable towards the end of the season after another 30+ days of age.
#12 Washington Irving Hilltoppers
# Players on Roster: 43
Effective Level: 767 (Level 55)
Overview: The owner acknowledges in the league forums that they were promoted too early. Everyone has to take their lumps in the rise through GLB and it looks like these guy will take their's now. Good team for the future though. Look out in season 18.
#13 Warsaw Pact
# Players on Roster: 14
Effective Level: 829 (Level 65)
Overview: Hard to imagine this was an AAA playoff team last season, considering how much they have plummeted. They lost a lot of players and haven't seemed to sign anyone to replace them.
#14 LaDoua Dragoons
# Players on Roster: 46
Effective Level: 779 (Level 56)
Overview: A better team than this ranking provides, but I just felt like punishing them for apathy. As of right now, every player on their team has an agent that is some level of inactive. They will make the playoffs if they finally remember they have a team.
#15 Whitehouse Snipers
# Players on Roster: 3
Effective Level: 826 (Level 61)
Overview: Irrelevant. As close to a CPU team as you can find. 3 players...end of story.
#16 Glass City Fightn' Thundercats
# Players on Roster: 0
Effective Level: 0
Overview: After seeing some posts from their owner in the league forum last season, he is fed up with all of the changes and will be effetively ending his ownership. Since most every player from his team last season has signed with other teams, I think these guys are done.
