Last Week: 7-1
Season Total: 7-1
Well, Dublin kept me from going perfect. How dare them?!?!
But will I pick against them this week? Read on...
Game of the Week
Amsterdam Arctic Blast at Belfast Mafia (WRONG)
Belfast pulled out a good win last week, but the Artic Blast has just kept rolling in its first two games. This game is going to be closer than people think. I actually think Belfast is just as talented a team as Amsterdam, but the Artic Blast depth chart is what I am picking to come up with the win here. I look for it to be close early... no more than a 10 point different at halftime, but I don't think the Mafia's second half will allow them to recover that margin. Too much of an uphill battle for a mismatch, however slight it may be.
South Yorkshire Stars at Warsaw Knuckleheads (RIGHT)
In a battle of the two highest-scoring offenses in the league thus far, we can keep our eyes out for a shootout. With 143 points scored between these two teams in just 2 games, it has the makings of an entertaining replay. The Stars handled Basin City a bit better than the Knuckleheads. With that being a relevant gauge for comparison, I am going to have to give this game to the Stars. I think their two-dimensional offense will prove to be too much. However, Warsaw boasts a powerful secondary and a deadly offensive line, though. So if they can win the battle in the trenches, then they could be this week's Dublin and prove me wrong.
Oklahoma (U.S.A.) Outlaws at Dublin Drunken Monkeys (RIGHT)
The Outlaws are going to have their work cut out for them in this week. I gave them edge last week, but I really don't think this one is going to be as promising. Dublin has proven they are a team to be taken seriously, and the Outlaws have yet to provide that statement win. Almost every advantage is on the side of the "D-Monk's" for this matchup. I give it to them, and I give it to them very convincingly.
Ithaca Space Munkees at Transylvania Bloodsuckers (RIGHT)
I don't even look for this one to be very close. Ithaca is still fielding far too many lvl 1s and CPU's to be competetive in this conference. Bloodsuckers proved their relevance last week with a solid win, and the Munkees have yet to lodge a point. I definitely look for a Bloodsuckers win, and unless some recruiting happens between now and then, I would expect that win to be by 35+.
Vatra Dornei Wraiths at Grim Reapers (WRONG)
Wraiths were on the wrong end of my missed prediction last week. Maybe they can be on the right end of a correct one this week. Because I'm going with them again. This is no knock to the Reapers because I see them being a playoff team. Reapers just got hit with a tough schedule to start with. But the Wraiths are the more complete team, and I don't think the Reapers will be able to hang with that. I think the Reapers O can hang with the Wraiths D... but I don't think the Reapers defense can handle the Wraiths. I look for this one ot be about a 10-point victory on the side of the Wraiths.
Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn at Kilkenny Cannibals (RIGHT)
Kilkenny has had it rough, too. They have had to open up against two very good teams, leaving without their first win. Unfortunately.... I don't think that luck changes in Game 3. If they can get the cpu's out of their secondary, it might make me change my prediction. But as it stands now, I think our friends of WALES(!!!
) will come up with this victory. The Wrexham offense is more developed than the Kilkenny counterpart, and I think think that single factor will prove to deliver them a CLOSE victory. I look for this one to go down to the wire with not much more than a FG separating the two teams at the end of the game. If I have to pick one prediction I am the least sure about... this one is it.
St. Louis Storm at London Chiefs (RIGHT)
This is another one I don't think is going to be all that close without some personnel changes between now and gametime. St.L will just prove to be too much for London to handle early on... then get them locked into a one-dimensional passing offense trying to catch up. This one should be a 14+ win for the Storm.
Crimson and Cream Sooner Machine at Basin City Blues (RIGHT)
Basin City had another rough way to start the season. Two of the remaining undefeated teams. This week they get their first W. Basin City is a much better team than their record shows, and I look for them to not lose a lot more games this season and be a solid playoff contendor. The Sooners, however, just need to keep the recruiting process going and fill in those gaps. Don't count them out entirely; they can still turn things around.
----------------------------------------
So there ya have it. Week 3 Predictions. Who's going to be the first to tell me where I'm wrong? Feel free. Keep in mind, these predictions are subject to change before, up to, and until Gametime. Personnel plays a big role in these decisions, and with as early as it is in the season, trades for quality players are still happening on a daily basis. I will try to keep my eyes open for these moves and consider them. But good luck with Game 3, everyone! And let the discussion begin.
