Lion Conference:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cybertron War Machine VS. Sahara Storm
War Machine I have good news and I have bad news... I'm not sure which you would like first.. we'll go with the good news.. 3 of your 5 losses have been very competitive.. and that's what it's all about for you guys right now.. stay in the game and give yourselves a chance to win in the end! The bad news however, is that the Storm have absolutely no intentions of letting you stay close.. they, and I can't believe I'm typing this, actually run the ball more then D9.. when you're top player threats are 3 HBs and a kicker.. it's easy to figure out what they intend to do... they're going to run the ball... work the clock and eventually where you down into submission (they're just mean that way).. Apparently that little loss to the Silverbacks got this team fired up and they'll continue to roll this week .. Sahara Storm by 40+
Sahara Sand Monsters VS. Carthaginian War Elephants:
Now correct me if I'm wrong.. but I thought that the Sand Monsters shut it down early last season so they could prep for this season.. and now this season it looks like the wheels already fell off! While the War Elephants started the season out with a very tough schedule.. they've worked their way through it and this is their opportunity to finally climb above .500 for the season.. and I don't think that there is anything that the other Sahara can do about it.. War Elephants keep gaining moment with a 24 point win (that's a scary thought.. a bunch of elephants running down hill.. somebody could get hurt!).. oh and my other prediction is that Jules throws more TDs then INTs today!
Pretoria Crusaders VS. Bamako Black Magic:
These are two teams coming off of hard fought victories over the weekend.. while the Crusaders have managed to get themselves to .500 and put themselves smack dab in the middle of a giant cluster of teams.. some that will make the playoffs and some that won't.. they find themselves hosting a strong Black Magic team! The Black Magic.. other then their little reality check against D9.. have been taking care of business. Both of these teams are going to try to run the ball and control the clock.. this one really is going to come down to defense and turnovers! Did anybody else notice that the Crusaders top player threats are 3 D-linemen and their HB? This one is really going to be a coin flip, I can't predict turnovers but the Black Magic have less so far this season.. so I'll give them the edge.. but this game will be decided by 6 or less.. and I'd take the under (only if you're somewhere that gambling is allowed)
Lake Opeta Legionnaires VS. Massawa Redhorns:
I bet Hokie isn't loving his return to APL at this point in time.. I think they'll be fine and they'll stick around and improve.. but you're just not ready yet. The Redhorns are coming off of a wicked stretch run.. with games against Storm, War Elephants and Silverbacks! They definitely need to string together a couple of wins to get out of the cellar (do you guys just hate the first half of the season).. and if they don't get this one I'd contemplate changing the team name again!! Jackals by 20
PHP VS. Nigeria Nightmares:
Good news Nightmares.. you get a W this week.. enjoy it because the next two games are going to be against Silverbacks!
District 9 Prawns VS. Rwanda Headhunters:
Me personally.. I think PP is bull shitting.. passing game? Really?? We all know better then that D9s bread and butter is on the ground. While I'm sure the Headhunters are enjoying their 3 game win streak.. unfortunately all good things have to come to an end.. and that streak ends today! The Shrimpies will continue to roll in this one (they haven't had a Lion Conference team come within 50 points of them).. I'll take D9 by 64
Somalia Pirates VS. Ironton Tanks:
The Pirates are coming off a tough loss.. where they racked up 140 more yards of offense then the Black Magic.. but also turned the ball over 4 times!! The Tanks put together a couple of nice wins in a row before running into the D9 confidence wrecking crew! If the Pirates can hold onto the football I believe they can climb back above .500.. I'll take the Pirates by 13
*Uganda SilverBacks VS. Zambezi Silverbacks:
**Lion Conference Game of The Week**
Can we call this one the "Rumble for the Jungle".. It's time that these two teams face off and find out which is the dominant primate.. I say the loser has to change their team name to the monkeys! (What do you guys think.. side bet there?).. Okay reallistically I know that neither would agree to that.. but Gorillas are known to be aggressive in order to prove their dominance.. it's time to see who's more aggressive between these two! Zambezi is lead by Tex Bishop (great name for the QB of the top passing offense in the Lion Conference).. it's ironic that they are the top passing team when they actually are a very balanced offense (30 passes per game to 31 runs).. While Uganda doesn't have the offensive numbers of their opponent.. what they do have are better defensive numbers.. so that's really going to be the deciding factor.. can their defense shut down the high powered offense? I just don't see Uganda being able to shut down the Zambezi offense.. and neither team turns the ball over a ton.. so I'll take the Silverbacks by 10 (the ones from Zambezi that is)
================================================================================
Elephant Conference:
Kickin Djibouti VS. Carthage Mad Clash:
This one isn't going to be pretty.. the Mad Clash are a team on a mission.. they thought that they should have been in WL this season.. and unfortunately for the rest of the Elephant Conference.. they're pissed that they aren't!! Only one team has been able to hold them under 55 points this season (yes that's right it was actually ABD that did it).. and Kickin won't be the second team!! Kickin has always been known for their passing game and offense (not their defense).. but the elite passing game has faded into the sunset like a cowboy at the end of a western flick.. speaking of cowboys.. what happened the that gay cowboy TE of their.. last season Jack Twist was averaging over a 130 yards receiving per game.. compared to 30 this season!! The Clash are averaging 87 points per game.. Kickin is giving up 52 points per game.. I have a feeling that Kicking is going to feel like Charlie Brown after this one... Clash by 78
Sahara Sand Storm VS. Ivory Coast Breakers:
This is a game between a couple of first season APL teams that have had a rough introduction to the big leagues!! While S3 has managed to get a W already.. it's been eluding ICB. But that being said (or typed however you want to look at it).. ICB has played very competitive.. their last 3 games where all losses to potentional playoff teams by an average of less then 7. That tells me that they're on the verge.. and I think this is their weak.. nothing against S3.. but when you lose to Swazi and Pirgos by 87 points/avg. and ICB loses by 5.. I'll take the Breakers getting their first win.. by 27!
Angola Blood Diamonds VS. Pirgos Warlords:
Again.. this is a match up of two teams playing at two different levels!! ABD will claw, scratch, kick and probably even bite if it means sticking around in APL.. while Pirgos is playing to establish themselves as a contender.. For ABD this one is basic.. your top players are a LBer, FS, Kick Returner and Punter... all 4 of those players will get plenty of work this week!! This one's for you Vegas.. Pirgos wins 48-6 (now see if you can keep it closer then that)!
Rhodesia Ratels VS. Sons of Anubis:
Well, well, well... what do we have here.. The Ratels are coming off a huge victory and have planted themselves among the elite teams in the conference.. while SoA's heads have to still be spinning trying to grasp what really happened with that Predators game (no offense King but you're not 70 points better then us).. The Ratels got their first win ever against SoA last season.. and they look to have even more bite this season!!
Uganda Mounties VS. Kiev Dynamos:
I'm going to call this one my upset of the week!! The Dynamos have been playing lights out this season.. sitting at 5-1 with their only loss to Pirgos by 2 they have to be feeling pretty confident.. while the Mounties have been beaten into submission so far this season.. but when you look at their schedule their 4 losses have come at the hands of teams that have combined for 1 loss so far this season!! That's brutal.. and I think this game might prove as an equalizer.. with the toughest part of their schedule out of the way I think the Mounties will start to show that they aren't to be taken lightly the rest of the season.. I'll take them in the upset by 6
Somalia Warlords VS. Swaziland Dachshunds:
The Warlords have to be wondering how long it will take to right the ship.. well I can tell you that it won't happen this week.. the Dachshunds are have only allowed two teams to score more then 3 points against them! These little ankle bighters are nasty on D and that spells bad news for the Warlords this week.. I'll take Swazi by 45
Mauritius Mountain Lions VS. MaRawk!!o Evil Aces:
I have good news for the Mountain Lions.. that 4 game stretch is over (SoA, Predators, Ratels, Warthogs.. WTF!) I'm guessing that's what you said when you first looked at your schedule this season. For the Evil Aces.. the good news is the offense is improving.. the bad news is it still isn't strong enough to keep you in many games.. and this isn't one that it will either. The Mountain Lions will pounce on the Evil Aces and end their 4 game skid.. MML by 24
*The African Predators VS. Nairobi Warthogs:
**Game of the Week**
If the Predators hadn't lost last week this would game would have gotten 6 out of the possible 5 stars!! But as it stands.. this is still a 5 star game today! I didn't watch the last game.. just looked at the stats and it looked like the Predators had the advantage in every catagory except T.O.P. (but even that was close).. but sometimes it goes like that. What we did find out is that the Predators can be slowed down.. while the Warthogs haven't had a game like this one yet this season (their closest game this season is a 51 point victory over the Mounties).. but now it's time to find out just how good this Warthog team is! This is really one of those games where something's gotta give.. Both teams average over 74 points/game.. Niether team has allowed 40 points this season (that's total!!).. it's really going to come down to which team can impose their will upon the other.. and who get's the big game changer play... just because Elephant always seems to be a cluster f*&% at the top.. I'll take the Predators by 3!!
