will jumping increase my ability for diving tackles? thus better run sopport? i also heard that closing speed is good. in theory i believe raising stats for both these attributes will allow your SS to make more tackles on RB at the line of scrimmage. any thoughts?

yes you are correct but raise physical abilites 1st before you think of putting pts into specials. Without good physical abilites special abilites are useless.

i agree. im going to try to expierment and put my next 10 skill points in jumping. that should put the jumping skill to 30. ill fill you in on my results. (though it will take some time) if everything works out they way i expect it to, then the SS position will become more of a factor other then "last line of defense."

Actually I suggest you TRAIN abilities like jumping, confidence, catching for an SS. He has more important stats to use the +5pts. BTW I alo plan on raising my jumping to 30 by training.

i understand your logic so wont argue it. i have noticed alot of SS have low jumping. ussually under 20. And i have yet to see a SS put up any impressive numbers unless they play for a defence with a weak front 7. nevertheless, this could either be a huge waste of 10 skill points, or we can uncover something vital that was overlooked.

30 in jumping will definatley help alot with PDs and some ints because you will likely out jump WRs and TEs. The reason why many SS don't have much jumping even though they should (I count myself guilty on this one) is because there are just so many physical attributes to focus on to be an SS (more then FS since they don't require as much tackling or strength). Not to mention those who waste unnecessary points in special abilites before they have adequate physical abilities...

Currently my jumping is at 13 which I haven't really trained but I plan on starting that this week and hopefully getting it to 26 before end of season along with catching to 20. I honestly think you can only get a satisfactory all around solid build for SS only at lvl 20 or so (same for a balanced TE BTW).

closing speed i found to be very good for a SS

i also put my skill points in catching and jumping for my CB. puting both attributes over 20. He ended up having 2 INT's and 4 PD last game. Not bad for 3rd-CB/returner.
