Well gentlemen... I have not had a chance to do this in a while and with mid terms being over and having some down time I figured I would give you gents something to marinate on!

Alpha

So the season has come and gone leaving only two teams worthy enough for the Conference Title game and to be honest one of the teams playing for the Alpha Crown has be a bit surprised...
Yes I am talking about Melbourne, I knew this team would be a team not to be taken lightly, but who would have thought that an inactive team being ran by one GM in which no one really knows how much he does has been able to topple teams like EEA and the hot at the time Gold Coast Vipers!?

Well in the end we have the team I pretty much thought would be here, the Indianapolis Gurupies hosting the same team that put them out of the playoffs last season costing them the AAA title... Here is our match up today gents! http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=4813&team2=4865 in which no team has every shown the true BS the lol bars can indicate! but fuck it, lets see if I can get a more reasonable break down!?

Indianapolis Gurupies
Man I tell you I was pissed when Indy came into AAA last season... I mean we just got rid of the Lycans and their damn streak and then Indy came in and I said to myself, "this team will be around longer than that crew!" Indy comes into this game being lead by owner refguru and his active agents to our OPL forum of ChicagoTRS and Species. Now this Indy team has just been nasty this season to be honest even with their two losses by just one point to EEA and Gold Cost Vipers (which were both ironically beat out by Melbourne!? Indy's D has allowed just 6 TDs on the ground putting them second in the league behind the Band of Brothers, well play god sir. Next Indy had the highest sacks produce for any D in entire OPL with 109 as Indy has always been a monster in that department and it will take everything Melbourne has to protect their QB. With Indy's ability to get after opposing teams QB's and disrupt the passing game also puts their Pass D in 3rd for least amount of TD with just 11 through the air behind GCMM and Melbourne. The last two factors for Indy may be their most significant in today's match up... that is of 1. Forced Fumbles, Indy leads Alpha in this department and will test any of Melbourne's players that have to deal with Indy's LB core as the top four guys on Indy's team to force fumbles are LBs! 2. Indy's ability to the D on their asses as Indy has the few sacks aloud in the league and the most pancakes produce in Alpha!

Melbourne Marvels
Streak sneaky, or just plain lucky? Oh should be all be trying to recruit Thystle Missile as an OC or DC!? Either way I figured this team would be good and make the playoffs, just did not see them making it this far! Regardless Melbourne has its oh tools in this match up today that will create some problems for Indy today SOME! Now Melbourne come in with one of the more underestimated D's in Alpha, as noted above that Indy has allowed just 11 TDs in the air... well I will call that and raise you Melbourne that has only allowed 5 TDs through the air, which is best in Alpha and in the whole League for that matter! Next Melbourne sort of flip flopped with Indy, but still has a very effective run D as they have only allowed 10 rushing TDs! So for you boys and girls keeping track at home... that means overall Defensively Melbourne has allowed less offensive TDs than the mighty Gurupies!? Next big stat that could help Melbourne out is that of their Passing attack, as they had the 2nd highest total yards in Alpha sitting at 4942! but remember that is total yards as they are a bit further back in the standings when it came to yards per catch and yards per attempt.

Final Thoughts...
Last season was to be Indy's year at an undefeated regular season capped off with a AAA title and Melbourne punched them in the noise and took the glory! I am sure that Indy's forum has been light up over the last few days and know that Melbourne is coming out throwing! I expect to see lost of sacks out of Indy and their pancake producing O-line paving the way for a World League Run!

Indy Gurupies 48 Melbourne 15

Ding Dong the witch is dead!

One season in AAA and one season in OPL to get to WL. That was our goal when we hit AAA. Going to be tough to stay there being so outleveled, but we should be competitive nonetheless.
