so my question is during the off season will you be able to train if you arent on a team?

Once the system is updated, no, you will not be able to train until you select a team. This is by design since it should not take you longer than 7 days to select a contract to accept. You still receive training tokens but you cannot spend them until you have selected a contract.

not sure if that will apply during the off season. It will for sure apply during the pre-season and regular season though. Bort's deciding whether or not to implement it during the off season.

i've said this before in another thread that has since been lost in the ether, but this should not apply during the offseason. There are perfectly good reasons for players to be without a team for several days during the offseason, and should you have 4 TPs and an expiring contract on day 40, you could easily lose some TPs:

(1) waiting for new teams to be released -- can often take 5 days
(2) waiting until the pre-season so you can boost up to the min level of the team with which you want to sign -- can take almost 2 weeks

allowing folks to train without a team during the offseason would allow very little exploitation (SSB is about training w/out experience for 100 days, not 10), and would prevent folks who are operating in good faith from being punished

If anything you should at least raise the TP limit during the offseason. If people have built up TP already and get dropped on day 39 due to not resigning, they will likely end up losing TP even though they did nothing wrong. Or just make training possible during the offseason.
