I had this posted in the discussion thread but it's not getting any looks and I think this is a relevant point.

Head Hunter Defense
The Headhunter ability gives a bonus to causing fumbles, big hits, and monster hits when this player is traveling at or near full speed.

This skill works best for secondary players who can fly in and make the big hit.

Additional Levels:
Increases bonus to causing fumbles, big hits, and monster hits.

Will we get any more information about this SA before it becomes available. I ask because I have a linebacker that could potentially benefit quite a bit from it though I realize it is intended for secondary players. I guess the relevant question is, what does "at or near full speed" mean? I almost feel like this SA should say something more along the lines of "when the defender has a clean shot on the ball carrier".

For example, on sweep plays LB's are often cutting across the field at or near full speed but I don't really feel like this is an occasion where they are head hunters since the ball carrier is usually moving in a similar direction. However the the ball carrier comes up the middle, a LB is able to plant his feet and unload on the runner it is more of a head hunting situation.

Are there any other thoughts on this topic? Doesn't it seem a little strange to give a bonus to monster hits when the defender is running at top speed but chasing the ball carrier from behind?

Looks like more than half of those "head hunter hits" are delivered by linebackers and I'd say less than half of them involved the LB at or near a full sprint... So your agreeing with me?

How about @

1:09 Head hunter hit delivered from ball carrier and he was nearly at a dead stop.

If anything I feel as though what this clip shows us is that big hits happen when two players are traveling in opposite directions regardless of speed.

As this SA is worded right now this play could result in the SA firing if the LBer had it.

I'm only trying to illustrate that this SA would fire for plays like this but not on plays like :23 in that video where the defensive player plants his feet and levels off a hit.

Haven't had issues with this in testing yet. Still have a bit more testing to do though.

Quit creating threads about this in GLB Main please.

So is it firing when defenders are chasing ball carriers down from behind? What is "near full speed"? Will we know if this SA firers or will we be left wondering?

honestly, I don't know. Bort's the coder, only he knows the specifics for when it fires and doesn't fire, I'd ask in the next Q & A. I haven't seen an inordinate amount of increase in fumbles from having 10 in the SA though. There's an increase but it's not significant. When I test something new like this I'm looking for drastic differences - I'm not seeing anything near drastic with this SA.

Was it tested on LBer's or just secondary?

All LB'ers, Secondary and STOP's. If a player can use it, I test them with it.
