In the announcement on changes to AE, it says

"Swap it for 25 "refund tokens" which will let you shop for new pieces of AEQ. Choosing this option will also give you a full cash/bonus token refund"

If cash no longer will buy equip, how will the refund work? If it only requires tokens and not cash to upgrade AE, what happens if the refund tokens find me an AE I like but in another slot?

For example, let's say I have a DT with a +9 strength shirt and a +9 strength, 23% force fumble cleats (so with 9 upgrades). I decide to get refund tokens for the AE and find a +3 strength, +5% break block shirt.

With cash for equip, I would have the $3M I got from trading in the AE cleats per the announcement, would sell the shirt for $1.5M and come up with another $1.5M cash to upgrade my new AE shirt 9 times and buy a new +9 strength cleats for a total of $6M (assuming I don't want to use tokens to convert).

How do I do this going forward? I can get my tokens back to re-upgrade the new AE 9 times, but without the ability to use cash for upgrades, is it possible to get my new basic cleats or am I out of luck unless I have 4 tokens available to convert my new AE shirt to cleats like the old AE was?

Presently, there is a choice between cash to re-spec base equip or tokens to convert your AE. If there isn't a way to sell and replace regular equip between slots, then going forward, AE shopping for better gear is going to force you to use the conversion option unless you're lucky enough to roll something in the same slot as your current AE. Is there a way to keep choice if you don't have the extra tokens to convert?

The answer should be that any piece bought during the exchange can be converted free of cost.

Perhaps, but I think in the original discussion thread, I asked what happens if you get a piece in a different slot and catch said use tokens to convert it. Of course, that was before cashless equip was proposed.

Title is p confusing. There's not really a conflict. Simply an issue that the piece bought in the refund might not be in the same slot. I think you're making this too complicated. Quite simply, all the refund means is that you get 100% refund on the sale instead of 50%. Converting to a new slot will cost you 4 BT as usual. Selling a different piece (outside of the special refund) will only net you 50% as usual. If you don't have the cash or the BTs to make a piece at a different slot work, then I guess you had better find a piece in the same slot with your 25 refund shopping tokens.

tbh, I don't think you're following the issue. If we don't let cash be used to buy equip, as is being proposed, then what "cash" refund am I getting and how do I go about swapping slots on regular equip without the ability to use cash to buy one and sell the other?

You're worrying about something that isn't happening this off season and will have no impact on the +% AEQ changes.

thank you catch. I thought we were getting rid of cash for equip this offseason...so it's definitely delayed another season?
