Actually, I think they will. The Archetypes, Arches for short, will allow people to focus their builds more to suit the role they intend. With more points going to the core skills of a player rather than a lot of unused secondary skills, those core skills will raise higher and faster, thus allowing for a more focused build.
Basically, all rushing teams will become better at rushing, all passing teams will become better at passing, and I think we will see less of the balanced teams.

Well that sucks. I like being able to be good at both. I like a defensive GM wondering if we will pass all game long or we will run or will we mix it up. Having to do one or the other isn't good for dot ball.

It's individual players, so I think you'll be able to do both better than you could before. If I understand it, we'll see less of the effect in PW b/c of the low levels...b/c it's basically just changing the auto-gains when players level up, so we're only talking a few points difference here or there.
So for example your speed back. His speed will go up a little bit faster. So in the end, you'll either have a back who is a little bit faster than your speed back this year, or you'll have the flexibility to drop in a few points in other areas b/c his speed will have raised faster. So this might actually free up some points to make dual-threats even more viable, but I guess we'll see.

I'm still going to build three or four HBs next season (you may have noticed that the DI has been rocking four HBs for the last two seasons), but it will allow me to specialize, combo, or break the mold.
I think that the real difference will be the Solo SA tree. Unlike dots waiting to play in season 7 or 8 of their career, we can actually make use of the SAs at this level. I think that the team that has the right build and the right Specialized SA is goign to win next season.
Will you give your FB Route Run? Will you give him First Step? Will you give him some other blocking SA normally reserved for O-Lineman?
The first 4 points into any ability not already on their tree will only cost you 6 SPs. Obviously your first 15 are still going into your primary attribute, but how soon is too soon to put some points into this new ability at Pee Wee?

If it applies to individual players, you can still have a balanced roster...55 players is a lot, you can pretty much cover all bases throughout a roster...plus some positions dont really need a variation of players

I'm curious to see how big of an effect this has. I've seen a list of the SA's floating around and where people think they actually begin to fire. For example, according to the list, 'run block' doesn't fire until the OL has 30 agility. I'm not sure if I believe that or not...but if there is even some semblance of truth in that...a lot of the SA's may be useless, especially the higher level ones.

I do think that this will have an effect on silver & copper leagues where less of the players get retired after the season. For example, in PW it is more likely that you'll want to build your CB as a zone specialist b/c you get a higher bump for tackling instead of jumping, or that you'll want strength DE's. However, most people who are building for the long-term are likely not going to care about the PW's team needs when selecting an archetype, and are more interested in the SA's they'll be able to utilize down the road. Granted, we're only talking 7-13 points over the course of the season, but that can be a pretty big difference in something like strength.

Nothing will change much in the lower leagues, but in the higher leagues, it will be massively different.

It will help competitive Pee wee teams a TON in recruiting players that fit your overall team strategy, especially for new owners using the marketplace... you'll be able to search for FBs and LBs that will actually cap speed first. Agents will be able to stick to a long term build strategy and still make usable Pee Wee players.
Some of the other archetypes I love.. Hard Hitter Defensive back.. you get .5 to speed, strength, tackling, and vision. You'll see 80+ speed 50 agility CBs that are still somewhat balanced...
I like the FB Scat Back, all of the WR types...
I am a little disappointed in the bonuses for the Oline and Dline. Surprised the Strength DL position didn't get .67 to strength instead of just a weight advantage. I don't think Centers, Guards, and OTs should be lumped together either.. Seems like they took a shortcut on Oline.
