What the hell has happened to owners in Gold this season. What's up with running the same rushing play over and over and over again. I get it, find that one "exploit" and abuse it, that's the only way to make up for your lack of knowledge to create a legit game plan. But it's gotten really ridiculous this season. I guess the "same play penalty" Bort insists that exists doesn't effect pee-wee.

Even numbered seasons are like that. Remember S12 and the broken passing game?

I've totally toned down my OAI to only include about five to ten different plays in my ten different AI Packages.

On the otherhand, because people tend to run a formation based DAI, it becomes easier to exploit the same thing over and over again. I was getting that out of a couple of formations where the HB was able to beat my MLB on the same play over and over and also where a speedy HB was able to quickly cut to the weak side and run for 5 to 10 yards per carry.

My way to counter that is that I now have two or three looks per input so that even if the same play is run twice in the same situation, my defense has a backup that might not be beaten.

If one of those outputs is getting beaten every time, I will adjust it to fix the exploit.

But I hear you. I'm having a shit season and it is frustrating to watch losing efforts. At least it isn't the PR game that is hammering you.

I have about 4 looks at least for every formation. It hasn't stopped teams from running the same plays over and over again. Sacramento just ran 32 QB rushes against me.. I form draw Right 17 times, I form draw Left 15 times. Wow... that must be really exciting to game plan for. They aren't the big culprits though, there's a couple teams here notorious for running like 3-4 plays a game and not much else.

I wonder if they nerfed the passing game some since yesterday, we couldn't catch a cold in the middle of winter soaking wet buck naked. It was ugly. Not dissing our opponent in any way. It's just some of these passes we were completeing all season seemed to be shit today, nothing worked even when they were open the ball was falling short. Had we completed a few of those we would of been in better shape. They weren't trying to catch balls in double coverage, it was the Wr coming back and he being a few yards ahead of the Cb and yet the ball would fall short. Hurts a passing team like us so I can see why teams are more inclined to run the ball over and over.

When did you boost?

Level 1s get the lions share of the low level increase in stats... as you level your ability to throw well and catch well decreases and the defense (who get no boost) are able to be faster, more agile, and see the ball better.

If a QB goes from level 1 to level 5 and has 61 on his throwing then boosts to level 8 and has 63 on his throwing, but is taking a three level reduction in his low level gains, I think that his throwing stat will be reduced. On the other hand the 15 SP that you got should be able to increase your vision/confidence/strength to see the players better/lose less morale/make longer passes.

So you can see that pass quality goes down in the situation described above, but in exchange his other abilities will increase. Of course if you had used the 15 SP in throwing, you wouldn't see his PQ decrease, but his distance, vision, and confidence would all take a hit.

To compound this issue, your WRs are also boosting. Meaning that unless you dropped a bunch of points into catching your catch chance is decreasing with level, while perhaps gaining speed, agility, vision, etc.

It is a real tradeoff choosing when to boost and how to deal with these changes.

Of course (as I mentioned above) the defense receives no boost at level one, so they are only going to get better as the season goes on, getting closer to the passing game in the minors that everyone is complaining about where completion %s and YPA is like 2.5.

Of course everything that you just learned from reading my post is only good for this season and for this sim, because next season won't look like this at all.

What's sad, Guzz is that I've tried to mimic that simple approach against an opponent (because it has been successful a few times by others against said opponent) only to fail miserably. Yet when I stick with the well thought, balanced attack, I am left with dropped passes and game saving ankle tackles to defeat me. It totally blows.

I think it's a coin flip. We had a great day passing -- 12/19 for 351.5 yards and 6 TD's. We play in the Air Attack and can't complete crap. I've yet to find any consistency in the SIM. Just when I think I have it figured, I get bitch slapped.

I was thinking the same thing. The way the described boost works, it is meant to drop off as you level up. IN THEORY, your increased builds would help keep passing steady, but it seems the boost is more effective than builds. Once that begins to drop off, then passing becomes more difficult...especially long balls and throws in traffic.

Last year passing was good at the beginning of the year, but really dropped off come playoff time, I think that messed a lot of teams up. I'm curious to see if the same thing happens again.

Actually I think I know what it is. We temp boosted vision. Probably a bad call on my part.

Should have been speed or agility on the WR and Throwing or Strength on the QB.

But boosted WRs (level nines now) will be harder to throw to.

Well I am gonna keep chugging it..lol
I agree with what you said, I went Vision for the QB, WRs, and TEs and speed for the HBs, Fbs.
I only boosted 1 Passing QB, 3 Wrs and 1 TE, 1 HB. I left 2 unboosted Hbs, 3 Fbs, 1 Passing QB, 3 WRs and 2 TEs. I didn't think it would effect us THAT much...lol
