We have 4 main LBs:
Guy A (lvl 13)- 32 str, 40 spd, 26 agl, 30 vis, 30 tack, 30 sta
2-2-3-2-2
0-0-0-0-0

Guy B (lvl 13)- 36 str, 23 spd, 23 agl, 31 vis, 40 tack, 33 sta
3-3-3-3-1
0-0-0-0-0

Guy C (lvl 11)- 37 str, 34 spd, 24 agl, 21 vis, 28 tack, 18 sta
0-0-0-0-0
0-0-0-0-0

Guy D (lvl 10)- 25 str, 29 spd, 21 agl, 22 vis, 29 tack, 22 sta
1-1-1-1-1
0-0-0-0-0

I'm thinking of going:

LOLB
Guy A
Guy D

MLB
Guy B
Guy A

ROLB
Guy C
Guy D

Is this the right setup? My fear is on nickel, my best LB is on the bench and the slow guy B may be covering a TE. Yet, if I made Guy A the MLB, his speed would be negated for most 4-3 plays. What do you guys think?

B at LOLB
.... Most plays are run to this side, so having one of your better LBs there would be good, and plus he has HIGH strength to cause FFs.

A at ROLB
.... Your fastest LB should be here as well as your best LB should be here. He is the playmaker who is on the field the most and has to cover the most ground.

C at MLB
.... An all around solid LB who can hold down the fort in the middle.

That's how I'd set up your team to be honest. And when you have A and C in at the same time on nickel downs, you won't get torched anywhere.

I read somewhere that LOLB was the biggest position because most teams run to the right. That's why I put A there instead of ROLB. I also thought that since B had a "1" for field general, playing him at MLB may help.

Firstly, most teams do run to the right.. but if you have a very very good LB it suits him better on the Right because he'll get more plays there in nickle packages. You want a brick wall on the Left side, a guy who creates turnovers when given the chance. You know what I mean? You want your best guy getting more plays...

Lastly, 1 in Field General isn't going to do anything really. Once that stat starts getting up to 5-6 it becomes pretty effective.

Wait? I thought MLB played in the nickle/dime packages, is it really ROLB?

Standard: LOLB, MLB, ROLB
Nickle: MLB, ROLB
Dime: MLB

am I mistaken?

Actually, you're right. You're supposed to play your best LB at the LOLB spot. But, you're also supposed to play your fasted LB at the ROLB spot. So, when your best LB also happens to be your fastest, you've kind of reached a connundrum.


Personally, though, I would still stick A left, B middle, and C right. Tell B to train his speed up a little bit though, and have C work on his stamina (18 is horrible for a starter!), speed, and pass rusher SA's... in that order.
