GAME OF THE WEEK
Should be a few more close games this week than last but there will still be at least 4 blowouts. Out of the remaining games I think this one has the potential to ruin someone's playoff chances down the road although the same could be said for Fulham/Algeria and Burundi/West Yorkshire. I was going to go with the Burundi game here but I'm hoping this battle of 3-2 teams will be a close contest.

Alexandria
3-2 vs Nile 3-2
Both teams are 3-2 and trying to stay above .500 to ensure a playoff spot in what could turn into a very messy race later in the season. I think the Aces have had the tougher schedule so far but not by much. I have to give the nod to the Aces this week.

Somali 5-0 vs Cybertron 4-1
Somali has made short work of every opponent so far as they got off to a 5-0 start. Cybertron is coming off a huge victory over the Hippos and they're on a 3 game win streak. This will be a battle between David & Goliath as the younger War Machine teams takes on the as yet unstoppable force of the Pirates. I thought Cybertron would win their last game by a small margin and they ended up dominating but I don't think they'll have that same luck this week against Somali.

Nairobi
4-1 vs West Coast 1-4
The Death Squad puts down another team in a bye week blowout.

Sterling 4-1 vs Saskatoon 0-5
Bye week for the Bulldawgs.

BURUNDI 3-2 @ West Yorkshire 2-3
Both teams have had a fairly tough start to their schedules and only 1 game separates them in the standings. They've both won big and lost just as badly with neither team playing a close game yet. Difficult pick but I'll go with the Bandits. They really gave Somali a game through 3 quarters so they just need to put together a full game.

Hippos 3-2 vs LHC 0-5
Bye week for the Hippos will get them to 4-2. Then they enter a pretty tough stretch of games with only 1 of their following 8 games being a gimme. That 8 game stretch will go a long way to showing if they are playoff ready or not.

Fulham 2-3 vs Algeria 2-3
This will be a battle between two teams stuck at 2-3 right now. Only one will get to .500 this week and that team will have a leg up on the other team to make the playoffs as I don't see both teams making it at this point. They both have fairly similar schedules remaining although Algeria has the easier schedule to finish the season with 3 teams out of the last 5 being easy victories. Algerias biggest game so far has been a 2 point victory against Nile. Fulham has lost 2 very close games to Nile and Cybertron and needs to find a way to finish out there games when they have the lead. I think this is the week Fulham finally breaks their string of bad luck and closes out the entire game.

Carolina
1-4 vs West Nile 0-5
Carolina should notch up their second win of the season here.

Just for the sake of discussion, I am moving my take on the CWM/Somali game to this thread.

CWM gets a huge test this week. Somali did not take the off season lightly. We beat those guys Both times last year, and TBH, I felt we could both times. They had some depth issues in all the wrong places to play against us. This season, upon initial review I feel they have the edge pretty easily. As of now, I have no clue on how to attack them. IMO, this game is going to be a very close CWM win, or a Somali blowout.

I think it is a bad situation for CWM. The team with the chip on its shoulder and revenge on their mind is also the team that is the better team.

BTW, CWM welcomes these kind of games. Playing the difficult match-ups really beats the hell out of the crap that Bort has put us through with all the gut jobs the last few seasons.

you played so many gut jobs in a row, when it came time to play a real game you really had no clue what your team was capable of.

+1

Its hard to gauge the other teams in the conference right now thanks to the gutted teams and weaker teams. Sometimes I wonder how they really think their system for promotions and demotions works out so well.

I think Bort needs to set an exact amount of teams. and not sell any more brand new teams. New owners need to be buying already existing teams only. No selling of teams during regular season and the roster lock needs to be earlier in the season.

The creation of brand new teams has been a problem for awhile so it's obvious he just wants to line his pockets with people buying more and more teams. It will bite them in the ass though when people leave because they're frustrated that they can't fill their teams up because now everyone wants to play in Pro and World Leagues first.

I remember a few seasons ago in the minors there must have been about 6 CPU teams in one conference alone and yet they were still adding new teams when they had teams that could be filled. He should just stop creating new teams altogether until there is a real demand for them again.

i definitely agree w/ you about my hippos. I don't think we're a playoff caliber team but i dont think this is a AAA level conference anymore really.
