Summary - how do we prevent money 'exploits' / cash farming teams / etc.

Bort is very clear on his position:

Yes, because that's the only way we are going to be able to stop the ridiculous current money laundering exploit that is going on, and what is fueling a ton of gutting and dropdowns.

The only way we are going to stop money laundering through players is by making it so money cannot be couriered by players to other teams through equipment or signing bonuses.

In real life, players don't go to another team and tell them they don't have to pay them because they got paid at their last team. In GLB, players can collude with owners and keep it under the radar so we don't know it's going on, or there's enough grey area that it doesn't matter. The only way to stop it is to not make it possible. Trying to police it with rules doesn't work because is too easy to hide things through intermediary channels and guises of trades etc. You have to change the system to make it either not attractive at all, or impossible to do.

Also, there is a MAJOR bonus from changing this system: Cash farm teams will become obsolete, removing them from the leagues and making for more teams who are actually trying, increasing the level of competition in the minors.

Q: Are cash cow teams really that common?

Yes, there are a lot. It is also a VERY common practice to load up all the players on a team with cash before selling it to the CPU. That has been going on with far too many teams since season 1, and is completely against the spirit of the game.

This sort of change has to also go along with training not requiring cash for the player, but simply requiring him to be on a team. We get the benefit of hurting SSB to with it.

Many ideas thrown around - a lot of thorough discussion - with plenty of ideas being analyzed. Some of the ideas:

- when a player leaves a team- equipment is stripped and 50% of the cost of that equipment goes back to the team
- Teams would build 'equipment' rooms much like they build up their stadium - and this 'equipment' room would reduce equipment costs (by some amount - something in the 3-25 or 50% range depending on how upgraded the equipment room is
- possibly tying player morale into contract size

Nothing settled on; just plenty of brainstorming going on.

A question:
- what happen to my AEQ ? to get AEQ for my players I spend bonus token (practicing on normal instead of intense). If each time a player leave a team he need to re-shop for the AEQ, there is a hidden BT penalty for players moving around .

A comment:
- If a player need to be on a team to train (good idea) a mechanism should be set to prevent lose of training points during the off-season. Best option is to allow everyone to train once daily xp is off.

@ TxSteve : thanks for this foum and updates.

these were just tossed out ideas - obviously there is no one who would support bonus tokens disappearing

don't thank me - thank Catch and Bort - they're the ones who instituted all the new systems/people

Not only the BT in the AEQ, but also the BT invested in shopping for it (also known as shopping tokens)

why don't you let teams purchase all the equipment and assign it

for example, a team could have:

58 +9 pieces
51 +8 pieces

etc.

that the TEAM paid for all the upgrades

when a player leaves the team, the equipment goes back to the team fund

when a player joins a team, they equip the piece and apply the equipment points where they want to

so, in theory, when a team has bought 220 level 72 pieces (55 players x 4 pieces each - each piece costs $4,265,500 to go from level 1 to level 72) and has spent $938,410,000 they won't ever have to buy equipment again because they have the whole team always fully equipped

This idea would be great, but what about the teams who already dished out all the EQ? For instance I have at least spent 200 mil for lvl 56 and 64 pieces over the course of time. Now my team hasn't made the playoffs the past 2 seasons and we are broke and can't afford any EQ for any player that needs it right now

the current equipment owned by players would go back to the team when they leave so you don't have to re-buy it

Break up AEQ into two parts. There is the normal +Attrib part and the AEQ part which is the +% or +VA enhancement. The teams can own the normal equipment which costs $ and the players can own the AEQ part which costs BTs (and STs).

I don't think that teams should be able to buy and keep equipment forever, there should be some form of ongoing charges. Perhaps taking the most recent bonus off of the gear due to wear and tear so the team has to rebuy the most expensive bonus (only) each season.

has to be a way to remove cash from the system -

re-sizing / repair cost when giving equipment to a new player

or

upkeep cost on a per game or season basis

agreed

but realize you have to earn $1B to fund all the equipment you'll ever need

10% re-stocking fee or a $216K maintenance fee per season on level 72 stuff (72 x 3 = 216 - so the highest level x3 = your maintenance fee) or whatever

Hereīs a good one: just give players their damn EQ. In game cash serves no real purpose than to hurt teams that havenīt been able to exploit the system, and to frustrate players whose dots are on cash strapped teams.

managing money, tickets, concessions, etc. is a huge part of the game - stadium building as well

why not give everyone an ideally made dot too and set your AI up for you as well

IF equipment stopped getting more expensive at say 400K or 600K I think most of the problems would be solved.. We would see a lot less gutting this way, and teams would also be able to adjust gear for seasonal sim changes. Just cap the price of equipment and a lot of problems would be solved instantly.

$600K (level 48 - right?) works

some teams might buy level 72 stuff at that price

I think the part where there is an equipment room where the team can purchase and store and assign later to players is a good idea. Its like a team purchasing their own gym room where equipment are stored for players to use. The team can purchase to upgrade these equipment (obviously getting expensive the higher they upgrade become, same as the current setup of EQs). The thing that is good about this is that this equipments will remain with the team once the player(s) leave the team.

On top of these, there are equipments that players can purchase themselves (must be a lot cheaper than those team-owned equipments). These equipments will obviously be worn by the players and won't be left to the team once the players leave the team.

Additionally, it would be nice that the team money will grow via some kind of bank interest. I mean, ticket sales/concession sales are good but obviously there should be a way to get these income to grow. Probably via stocks (?) or something where the team can put a portion of their money and let it grow and then they can withdraw or if the team wants to reinvest it.
