This season started out kind of odd, and I haven't been super happy with this sim, but I think the weird assed morale spiral deal that made close games almost nonexistent has been nerfed back.
Here is how I see the conference shaping up right now:
Elephants: This is the team to beat. Their D is beastly, and their Backs are very hard to slow down. They don't appear to have those one or two weaknesses that the rest of us have. And they have already played the toughest part of their schedule. Pretoria and Molfetta are the only teams left with any sdhot at knocking these guys off, and I don't think they will.
Balls: These guys are much better than they let on. They have several tough games left, but I don't see any more than 0-2 more losses. They end up a top 4 team, imo.
Niner's: These guys are racing against decline. They seemed unstoppable last season, but seem pretty human this time around. I think they have 1-2 more losses and finish top 4, but can see any number of teams beating them in the PO's.
This is where it gets a little more interesting...
Pretoria: They got surprised by the mafia a couple games ago, and have a murderer's row left to face. They need to hold off the improving sack o poo team, and run the gauntlet of carth/balls/G-Nat/Niners with 2 losses or less to finish top 4, imo. The last game of the season could prove to be very interesting, indeed.
G-Nation: My team, so I won't say a lot other than we have already run most of that same gauntlet, and licked our wounds. I think we finish with 0-1 more loss. I also want to apologize to my PR/KR and Punter for the last few games.
LXA: These guys have also run through the beef of their schedule, and have 1 sure loss remaining. The rest will depend on how hard their morale was hit by all of those beatings they took.
Mafia: Nice record, but they have only played 2 quality teams and are batting .500 in those games. I see 3-4 more losses for these guys. PO team, and they seem to be much tougher than they were last season.
Not sure who wants that 8 spot. It might be an interesting race to see what happens on this end of the schedule? Someone in this group needs to develop a sense of urgency.
Saskatoon: I see 5 more losses in their future.
Tangiers: Not sure how hard these guys have been trying, but they have 1-2 more losses.
Hasselhoffs: I don't see how they get away weithout 4 more losses.
Kiev: I think they end up with 3 more losses
Everyone else:
Better luck next season
