The way the D AI is currently set up, they always call the defense called based on down/distance/formation. Allow them to sometimes blow a call--maybe read a formation incorrectly. In real football, the MLB or a SS makes the calls--maybe base the chance to "misread" an offense on that player's vision? Maybe let the defense name a captain, or a position to be the play-caller?

Allow some randomness? Real football defenses are not so refined that they don't sometimes blow a call/coverage. Sometimes human beings make mistakes.

This game would benefit from having SOME randomness to it.

But why penalize the defense only? Don't they have enough problems already?

Real football =/= dotball.

Besides, there is plenty of user error in glb (AI mistakes, scouting mistakes, ...)

I honestly have no idea what that's about. I have nothing in my DAI or custom plays that even closely resembles that.

yep every now and then a input will fail randomly... kicking it to base AI unless you have some universal plays called. At the bottom of my AI I now have 2 wide, 3 wide, and 5 wide, that have just base cover 2 shell with man coverage called... it's not great, but it's better than the crap the basic AI churns out.


and as for the suggestion... it's on of those things that's better left out rather than trying to go hyper realistic with the game. If you add this, what about offenses not getting things together and having to burn a TO unnecessarily, or take a delay of game penalty etc? What about QB and WR miss-ques on routes etc? There are a lot of things that happen in real life that just really shouldn't be added into a game.

That's what worries me, I have a few "safety net" inputs at the bottom and the plays in those outputs look nothing like that.

ya I saw it a lot at the end of last season... I don't notice it as much this season... but I only DC one team now and I don't watch every play so it's rare that I catch it

So should offensive players accidently run the wrong routes? Randomly block to the other side?

Sure...why not? Defenses line up and run a play based off of offensive formations though...so it seemed the most logical to let it affect them that way. If/when Bort ever implements something like a hot read, it would be cool to see a QB misread the defense.

Maybe Bort could add a line to the replay: (Defense confused), or (Wrong Read)

I'd feel better if I thought it was due to my dot's lack of vision than bort's lack of coding vision.
