Just in case anyone hasn't seen this thread.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=359786&page=1

EEAA#3 has a Median level of 11. Half the folks are above this, half below this. This means with the 8 Level Cushion you could start this season at level 19 (After boosting) with no ill effects to your earned experience.

Bort also says this will likely not take effect this season. He's going to put a system into place, and then watch some teams specifically and see how these numbers work out and if they are reasonable. If they do, expect the change to be made for Season 4.

This Median Level will go up with the early season boosting. Some teams who brought in ringers last year, would have been affected by these rules. If they were put into play today, the following players would be at risk to receive sportsmanship penalties if they boosted at the beginning of the season. Players marked with a * would receive the penalty if they boosted or not.

(I am going from the top of the list from http://goallineblitz.com/game/league.pl?league_id=63 team order should thus mean nothing and is not intended to imply anything)

ALPHA CONFERENCE:

Mic Cannon - Piranhas
Riian Patterson - Piranhas
King Hippo - Piranhas
Charlie Horse - Piranhas
Karlis Baltputnis - Piranhas
Riian Barry - Piranhas
*Patrick Thomas - Piranhas
Antonio Jackson - Piranhas
A.D. Brown - Piranhas
Jack Henderson - Piranhas

Johnny Forcefield - Plodders
Focker Z - Plodders
Rick Stickum - Plodders
Stevie McTackleyou - Plodders

Steve Biner - Mongols
Segue Tupayne - Mongols

Oberst Steiner - Power
Dominick Mack - Power

Kreig Martinek - Imperfects

Pat Law - Rough Riders
Frank Nitti - Rough Riders

ZETA CONFERENCE:

Eric Hobsbawm - Thunder
John Keegan - Thunder

Grand Totals:

Alpha Conference:
- 20 Players who would be at risk of Sportsmanship Penalties if they boosted three levels immediately.
- 1 Player who would be at risk of Sportsmanship Penalties whether they boosted or not.

Zeta conference:
- 2 Players who would be at risk if they boosted three levels immediately.

Team with the most players who would be at risk:
St. Petersburg Piranhas with 10.

# of teams playing with the realm of 'Sportsmanship' per Bort's latest idea:
25 of 32.

Conference exhibiting the most 'Sportsmanship':
Zeta

# of teams exceeding the '3 mentors' Sportsmanship exemption:
2

So, again, while these penalties mean very little this season, its something to watch out for as you are recruiting and planning for the coming season and the season after when these penalties will be enforced in some way.

Likely, this number will edge up tomorrow as all the players who can or need to to remain competitive at the start of the season will Boost.

Cheaters!

Not cheaters. Just on the outskirts of parity with the league.

When they were brought in, these ideas of Bort's weren't in place and any one of us could have made friends with and tried to pull over the best folks onto our team that we could.

I just posted this since its been a big deal in the announcements and the suggestions forums and there is a lot of talk about it.

I think if you look at the overall mix of EEAA#3 we have a great mix and the teams have a good deal of parity and it really is competitive. I think that even those teams who were demoted due to being gutted or didn;t do as well last season as they had hoped can look at the rosters in our league and know with boosting, good player builds and good game planning, can pull off an 'upset' victory and win it all.

I look forward to Season 3.

I like the intent of the system and hope it works - but shouldn't there be an accounting of what a team gave up to get a good player. For example, maybe a team paid $700,000 for a level 18 guy - seems fair. Or gave a player and cash.

Isn't the intent to prevent "sweetheart deals?"

Well I did this very early on, since then our median level may have moved up a bit and also more teams hired new guys. I might re-visit this partway through the season.

by average level do you use just starters or the whole roster?

I was using the figures posted on the link in the first post. I didn't do the calculations. Its also not Averages but Median's which helps make a better picture of team strength as Averages can too easily be skewed in larger data sets.

some of my players are on a Western Europe AAA team. We faced a team that was gutted and demoted from the pro league. The former owner was banned and the team as a new owner only to find the team made up of almost all CPU players and the highest level human player was 9!

We beat his team 156-0 - and we all sent condolences. We even started backups in many positions. the worst is the new owner had to spend money to own a team that will likely never win.

This is why Bort has the policy, not teams like any of ours.

Not if you calculate and factor in the standard deviation

Well sure, but then you get a picture that would be close to the median, so might as well use it from the start.

True...I just wanted to say something relatively intelligent so that you guys would stop thinking of me as just another pretty face.
