My LT rolled a +3 blocking +1 Get Low for 76K, is it worth it? I already have 2 AEQ pieces of Protect and i'm stocking up on BTs for a 3rd piece. so would this be a good 3rd piece for a LT?

i'd take it, but keep shopping for foundation. Also, why 2 pieces in protect? it's much smarter to only have 1 in each SA from aeq.

Why is it not smart to have 2 pieces of PROTECT?!? It is the SA that costs the most to advance and is the most important SA for an LOT. You get two pieces in PROTECT and you really won't need to spend any SAs there and they could be used in any other SA at less cost..therefore better value.

I also don't get why anyone thinks a 3rd piece of AD EQ is cost effective. If you intense train every chance you get that is 2t/5d. Over the course of a 40 day season that equals 16 training chances and also 16 bonus tokens. Lets say you can squeeze out another 4 tokens in the off-season (being optimistic). After 2 seasons you have 40 bonus tokens...now to spend them.

Its the beginning of season 13 and I just boosted my players to 25 so they can start accumulating VAs. I will get 25xps daily(40) and possibly 150xps per game(16). 25*40 + 150*16 = 3400xps or 3.5 levels. Now I'm 28-29. Next season I boost 3 to 32 and pick up another 3 levels to 35.

So in two season's time I've reached the L24 and L32 equipment upgrades and will get to L40 in 3 seasons. To maintain 3 pieces of ADV EQ at L24 I will use 3*8 (24 BTs) at L32 another 24 BTs for a total of 48. But I've only accumulated 40. I steadily start to fall behind in maximizing my equipment bonuses. It will soon be very obvious that the 3rd piece of ADV EQ giving me that extra SA is not worth the loss of possible attribute pluses from basic equipment.

Now if the ADV EQ has a big attribute +3 you can consider it, but look at your other pieces from earlier. I'll bet they have +1 at best until you start to upgrade them.

It depends on your build strategy.

2 pieces of Protect (for this example I counted every SA piece as 5):

SP cost to get Get Low to 10 - 39
SP Cost to get Hands to 10 - 43

1 piece of Protect (for this example I counted every SA piece as 5) and 1 piece of Get Low/1 Piece Hands:

SP cost to get Protect and Get Low to to 10 - 35
SP Cost to get Hands to 10 - 37

If you're going to pump anything on the run tree (and a lot more cost effective to pump anything on the pass tree), then it's more cost effective to only use 1 piece of protect and 1 piece of something else.

I think octowned's math is clearest on the subject, though I don't want to dig for it.

3 pieces of value can certainly be worth it, especially if they include +2 or +3 in an important stat. The overall key to making it work is not having to search endlessly for good pieces. i agree 20BT/season is doable. final assessment is in, how high do you take the pieces of AEQ. most teams dont cover lv72.....lv56 is the last level with the SA bonus. 3 pieces at lv56 is certainly more manageable than had you tried to do lv64's.

quick math:
season = 54days (6preseason,40regular,8offseason) = 108tp divided 5 = 21 + 3tp = 20BT +4 shopping per season.
10seasons @ 20BT/season = 200BT's
200/8BT per upgrade = 25 upgrades
25 upgrades/ 3 pieces = 8 upgrades each + 1 leftover
8upgrades = lv56

final EQ could be, 64normal, 64AEQ, 56AEQ, 56AEQ. biggest value than come with patience..doing 1 or 2 early looks at the store and taking what is best, but saving most of the shopping until after lv40.

I would go with 1 piece in Protector and two pieces with Hold Block on them...or even better, all with hold block on them and one that also has Protector if I'm allowed to dream
