Season 3 Pre-season Rankings for USA #7 (Western Conference)

Disclaimer: I am the owner of the New Brunswick n00bs and this is only my opinion based upon how the teams looked when I saw them

1. Silverymoon Elves
2. Waco Davidians
3. Buffalo Rangers
4. Great Plains Reapers
5. Las Vegas Stunners
6. Spicewood Longhorns
7. Dallas Red Raiders
8. Oakland Wizards
9. Miami Cyclones
10. New Brunswick n00bs
11. Portland Hitmen
12. Scottsdale Sun Demons
13. Grand Haven Mist
14. RGB Berzerk
15. Hartford Hellhounds
16. Carolina Bar Stars

1. Silverymoon Elves - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1663

Team Strength: Pass Offense – In reality, this whole team is full of strong points, but the one area that really sticks out is the pass offense. Last season they completed a whopping 68.2% of all their passes. With a lvl 19 QB armed with a platoon of lvl 14+ WR and a beastly lvl 22 catching TE, this team will be close to unstoppable through the air. Right now secondaries across the conference should be trying to upgrade in order to deal with the inevitable aerial onslaught that the Elves’ passing game will bring.

Team Weakness: None? – I don’t think the Elves have ever seen the word “weak” describe them except for when people comment on their weak-side linebacker. There are no true exploitable holes in their lineup. The one thing they lack on face value is O-line depth, but with the levels so high, they probably have enough stamina to make it through the game with high energy.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 16-0 (in BBB#13)
Final Season Two Ranking: NA (new team)
Next Game: at Hartford Hellhounds

2. Waco Davidians - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1220

Team Strength: Starting Line-up – Coming off a tough defeat in the conference championship, the Davidians are hoping to lead the leagues in wins again. The biggest strength they have is that they sport an impressive starting lineup with lvl 14+ players across the board. If teams aren’t able to matchup with them early, the Davidians will romp over them early and cruise to wins.

Team Weakness: Low Level Depth – In a conference where teams are so bunched together in terms of talent, games will come down to a few small factors. One of those factors is the type of depth a team has. By having too many people in the depth chart with at a huge level drop-off, Waco could find themselves pulling their hair out if the lvl 6 FS gets constantly burned game in and game out.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 15-1
Final Season Two Ranking: 2
Next Game: vs Dallas Red Raiders

3. Buffalo Rangers - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1702

Team Strength: Pass Offense – While the Rangers ran a well balanced offense last season, their pass offense was stellar with an amazing 68.4% completion rate. Their QB has a plethora of throwing options, which include a pack of lvl 12+ WRs and solid catching TEs. This is another team in the conference whose aerial assault should be feared.

Team Weakness: Too much depth – While last season the pre-season rankings were worried about teams having human depth, this team could be hurt by having too much depth. If their higher levels swap out too early in a tough game, they could be in trouble. Also, with so much depth at certain positions, it could be hard to get everyone max or close to max XP and the Rangers’ players could fall behind some of their other counterparts in the conference.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 15-1 (in BBB#14)
Final Season Two Rank: NA (new team)
Next Game: at Miami Cyclones

4. Great Plains Reapers - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1212

Team Strength: Defensive Front 7 – Much of the Reapers’ success last season came from their ability to hold other teams down defensively. More often than not teams had to settle for FGs instead of TDs in the red zone. This was due in large part to the Reapers’ impressive front 7. With solid depth, it will only get harder to score TDs in the red zone against the Reapers

Team Weakness: None? – This team is built extremely solidly and teams will have a hard time picking a weakness to exploit when they play the Reapers. They will probably only lose games to teams who have higher level players, but they could provide some upsets with some clever gameplanning and luck.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 12-4
Final Season Two Rank: 3
Next Game: at Oakland Wizards

5. Las Vegas Stunners - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1219

Team Strength: Offensive Starting Lineup – The offensive starting lineup is a pretty solid bunch that could do some major damage against teams that aren’t prepared for their balanced attack. With a solid lvl 16 HB and a QB with multiple weapons around him, expect the Stunners to employ a variety of offensive tactics.

Team Weakness: Defensive Secondary – While not a huge weakness, the Stunners will need to gameplan well if they don’t want to get consistently get burned by pass minded offenses. The starting safeties are fine, but it’s the backups under them that might be cause for some concern.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 11-5
Final Season Two Rank: 4
Next Game: at RGB Berzerk

6. Spicewood Longhorns - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1214

Team Strength: Overall Starting Lineup – On both sides of the ball, the Longhorns are sporting an extremely solid starting lineup that will give most other teams fits. They should be able to do damage to people with a balanced attack and prevent most offensive from dropping major points on them.

Team Weakness: Chemistry? – Last season’s moves gave the Longhorns an unexpected boost, but left them with a ravaged chemistry, which caused them to fade down the stretch. Right now they have to hope that the team chemistry doesn’t rear its head again and lead to being upset.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 11-5
Final Season Two Rank: 7
Next Game: at Portland Hitmen

7. Dallas Red Raiders - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1217

Team Strength: Game Planning – Last season they won games they weren’t supposed to win (like against Bel Air and Great Plains) and were able to surprise many people. Even though their levels may not be up to par with other top teams, they’ve show that through gameplanning and builds they can play a few levels higher than expected.

Team Weakness: O and D lines – The Raiders’ O and D line aren’t horrible, but are definitely one of the weaker parts of their team. For the offense to keep chugging along they had better hope that their O line can hold other teams’ defense at bay. Defensively they’ll just need to contain all the plays hope that the LBs will compensate for the line play.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 11-5-1
Final Season Two Rank: 6
Next Game: vs Grand Haven Mists

8. Oakland Wizards - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1215

Team Strength: Offensive Line – The Wizards have a great offensive line filled with a bunch of studs. With such a strong offensive line their offensive production with be maximized and it will be easier for them to sustain drives. Defenses could have a tough time getting through the O-line and pressuring the QB.

Team Weakness: Overall Depth – While the Wizards have a solid bunch of starters, the drop-off between starters and backups could lead to problems late in a game. Last season they faded down the stretch when other teams had bolstered lineups. They’ll need to fix this problem if they hope to be a top contender.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 11-6
Final Season Two Rank: 5
Next Game: vs Great Plains Reapers

9. Miami Cyclones - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1955

Team Strength: Offensive Starters – With one of the most changes during the off-season, Miami showcases a bevy of high level offensive starters. They now have a bunch of solid receivers to go along with their great QB and HB. Their O-line got a huge boost with 2 lvl 17+ Guards being brought in. This is no longer the Miami team that was seen last season. People will have to watch out for them as they threaten to get into the playoffs

Team Weakness: Defensive Depth – If there’s anything that will be their downfall it is their depth at the defensive positions. If the defense can’t contain another team’s offense, they’ll need to hope that the offense steps up and they can win in a shootout.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 5-11
Final Season Two Rank: 13
Next Game: vs Buffalo Rangers

10. New Brunswick n00bs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1210

Team Strength: Defensive Front 7 – Very much like the Reapers’, the n00bs’ defensive front 7 confounded offenses in the red zone. Never was this so evident than in the playoff game in which they lost 6-3 in OT to the #1 seeded Davidians. If their defense can continue to muster up that effort game after game, the n00bs could pull out some surprising wins.

Team Weakness: Defensive Secondary – Like last season, the n00bs’ secondary will be picked on. With a weak corp of CBs, it will come down to the safeties to stop the bleeding against teams that will air bomb the n00bs. If the n00bs’ secondary starts hemorrhaging big pass plays, it could be a long, frustrating season.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 10-6
Final Season Two Rank: 8
Next Game: vs Carolina Bar Stars

11. Portland Hitmen - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1211

Team Strength: Pass Offense – Very much like last season, Portland has a potent air attack that can give any weak secondary a problem. With their QB returning and an upgraded receiving corp, the Hitmen will gain a slew of passing yards.

Team Weakness: Defensive Depth – While their defense is pretty solid, some of the level differentials between the starters and backups are pretty big. The Hitmen could have problems against teams who have a deeper offense or whose offense likes to stay on the field.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 5-11
Final Season Two Rank: 11
Next Game: vs Spicewood Longhorns

12. Scottsdale Sun Demons - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1225

Team Strength: O and D lines – Like real football, games are mostly decided in the trenches. The Sun Demons have taken this to heart and have a solid offensive and defensive line that will help them keep the games close and score points. If the O line can contain other team’s defenses and the D line can overpower the other team’s offense, the Sun Demons have a good shot at winning games. If not, well, that could be a problem.

Team Weakness: Defensive Secondary – With the new influx of pass-minded teams, the Demons could be in trouble. Their secondary could be stretched beyond its breaking point and major pass plays against them could become the norm. Hopefully the CB and Safety builds as well as the defensive tactics are good enough to compensate for the slightly lower levels.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 7-8-1
Final Season Two Rank: 9
Next Game: vs Grand Haven Mists

13. Grand Haven Mist - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1222

Team Strength: Offensive Skill Players – Over the past season, Grand Haven has made some major moves and with a new season at hand, they’ll be able to show off their full arsenal. They are fitted with a quality HB/FB combo as well as a QB who has great receivers at his disposal. Team should be warned to not take the Mists too lightly because their offense will be more potent.

Team Weakness: Defensive Secondary – Once again it seems that teams are having trouble fielding a secondary that is solid enough to contain passing attacks. Hopefully the Mists will be able to figure out the keys to helping their secondary outperform their levels.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 4-12
Final Season Two Rank: 12
Next Game: at Scottsdale Sun Demons

14. RGB Berzerk - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1223

Team Strength: Defensive Secondary – Unlike other teams, this seems to be a spot of strength for the Berzerk. They have solid depth at all their secondary positions and can match up with many of the better pass-minded teams. Their secondary will help prevent big plays from happening and keep them in the game longer.

Team Weakness: O line – While not really weak by tradition measures, the Berzerk O-line is slightly under-leveled. They’ll need to be able to keep the QB safe and create running lanes for the HB against some very solid defenses. If they can do that with consistency then the Berzerks could pull off some upsets.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 2-14
Final Season Two Rank: 14
Next Game: vs Las Vegas Stunners

15. Hartford Hellhounds - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1216

Team Strength: Offensive Starters – Across their offense, Hartford has some really potent weapons. It will be important for the offensive starters to hit hard early and hope to hold on until the end. If teams can withstand the initial offensive onslaught, the Hellhounds could be in trouble.

Team Weakness: Lack of depth – What bit them in the butt last season is probably going to get worse this season. They still have CPUs on their depth charts, which is going to hurt them tremendously. Hopefully they’ll be able to solidify their depth chart or else they’ll go into a freefall.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 8-8
Final Season Two Rank: 10
Next Game: vs Silverymoon Elves

16. Carolina Bar Stars - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=734

Team Strength: Starters – Across the board the starters have a decent level. Unfortunately, this conference has much higher levels and it will be tough for them to compete consistently.

Team Weakness: Overall Depth – The more concerning thing besides the low starting levels is that the level drop-off are pretty sizeable, so the Stars could be in for a long season with some blow-outs.

Last Season’s Regular Season Record: 0-16 (in AA#4)
Final Season Two Rank: NA (new team)
Next Game: at New Brunswick n00bs

Games of the Week:

Originally posted by Gold Star Game
#2 Waco vs #7 Dallas

With their seasons ending on disappointing notes, both teams will be hungry to start off the season on the right foot. This grudge match is one that both teams were waiting for, but not so early in the season. Dallas will probably need to switch tactics this time and actually run the ball more than 5 times. However, if Dallas does end up trying their 100% passing approach again, Waco's defense must be ready.

Prediction: Unfortunately, like last season, Dallas will be starting off on the losing end of a game. This time it won't be due to tactical issues, but by facing a tough opponent.
Predicted Score: 31-14 Waco

#3 Buffalo at #9 Miami

In this game, we have one of the promoted teams facing off against one of the most upgraded team in the conference. These two teams are largely unknown quantities to the rest of the league and everyone will be watching this game to see whether Buffalo is really that good and whether the upgrades that Miami did over the off-season will make them a contender.

Prediction: Miami seems to have boosted early to create a pretty powerful team. If Buffalo doesn't boost, Miami will give them a nice wake-up call to remind them that this isn't a BBB league.
Predicted Score: 27-13 Miami

#4 Great Plains at #8 Oakland

My how times have changed. Last season when these two guys squared off, they were fighting for the #2 spot in the rankings. Now, this game could set the tone for the entire season for these teams. Great Plains needs this one to get off on the right path towards getting a home playoff game, while Oakland needs to win this if they hope to make the playoffs. With so much at stake in the first game of the season, both side's coordinators will need to be at the top of their game.

Prediction: This game could very well go to the wire. These teams know each other well and it will come down to who can sustain enough drives. My money is on Great Plains...but not my much.
Predicted Score: 16-13 Great Plains

#6 Spicewood at #11 Portland

Portland is in a very familiar spot in the rankings and is hoping to prove to the conference that it deserves to be taken seriously. Meanwhile, Spicewood will hope to bounce back from a late season let-down and start off this season on the right foot.

Prediction: Can Portland's passing game finally break through? In a word, yes. In a game that will probably showcase some offensive fireworks, I think that Portland will make a bold statement.
Predicted Score: 27-21 Portland

Good luck with season 3, this should be an exciting season with such a competitive conference. For many games it will come down to gameplanning and squeezing the most out of all your players.

Add Reapers to this list also. In fact just pick us to lose every week and do as bad at picking games as you did the first half of season 2. Thanks!
