As so many have suggested that Glasgow has no chance, I'm more interested in hearing point spreads.

What's your vegas line on the game?

That powerback is going to run over your LBs & DTs. 30point spread.

well, neo, looks like you get your rematch from the first game of the season.

I predict you get a couple more field goals this time around,

seriously though, we expect nothing but the best from the Kitties as you will get the same from the Wolves.

Good Luck.

I son't think the Kitties will win this one - but I guess it will be closer than most others think.

I wasn't that impressed with the Alpha teams playing against us in scrimmages so far - they probably didn't gameplan but neither did we and the only team that really dominated us was Glasgow

Even though we lost against Rome (and could have lost the first game we won in the last quarter) we outgained them in both matches and especially in the PO game we lost because of our turnovers but we didn't have a chance against Glasgow. You guys are stronger than the Alpha conference thinks - maybe not strong enough to take home the cup but I think you would have made it to the Alpha conference final if they had placed you there

Overall the other conference was a little stronger and they probably take home a deserved league title but it will be much closer than the Alpha 'experts' think

I can't wait! It's very exciting even if it's a footnote to some people already.

You know we'll bring our best.

I think the top 6 Alpha teams can beat the #1 team of Zeta. It seemed a bit unbalanced this season.

I disagree.

Our first game against #1 Alpha.
L 6-55

Your first game against them:
L 45-10

Beavers:
L 55-9

I don't think it's as far off as you are thinking it is. I mean if you want to put your challenge where your reputation lives, feel free to make it a scrimmage game.

It'd have to be the #5/6 Alpha to play you really. It's still a pretty lopsided conference.

Why don't we set it up so that Alpha's #2 plays Zeta's #2 and work our way down through scrimmages. We can do the whole league or just the playoff teams or whatever but everyone is just going to say we're better than you then we will never know. Maybe set it up so that Zeta's #2 sends a scrimmage to Alpha's #2 and then Alpha's #3 sends a scrimmage to Zeta's #3 and so on and we'll try and schedule them for the same day or as close as we can. Then we will finally know for sure who had the tougher Conference. So either put up or shut up!!

Ya, go ahead and arrange that with 1.5 days left of the season.

I know I'm just saying this is the same every season with people saying their Conference was tougher (which ours is) and no way to dispute it. You can take the two games today were our 3rd and 4th place teams beat theirs plus tomorrows games and that should give you a good account.

Willinsky any idea how promotions are going to go this season? We moving up or staying?

Sounds like something to suggest for next year.

Tru dat!! This is always an end of season disagreement. It's funny. I nominate you neo as in charge of setting this up next season where ever you are.

Just to go at things from a slightly different angle than Neo, using week 1 results....

Trondheim 55 - Glasgow 6 (Alpha's eventual #1 versus Zeta's eventual #1)
Ukraine 29 - Rome 14 (Alpha's eventual #3 versus Zeta's eventual #3)
Birmingham 35 - Lisbon 23 (Alpha's eventual #4 versus Zeta's eventual #6)
Charlottetown 27 - Langenfeld 3 (Alpha's eventual #5 versus Zeta's eventual #8)
Lords 3 - Baden 37 (Alpha's eventual #8 versus Zeta's eventual #2)
Stirling 34 - Chesapeake 17 (Alpha's eventual #9 versus Zeta's eventual #7)

Those were all the games involving a play-off team from at least one conference that were competitive. 5 wins for Alpha, 1 win for Zeta

I know the pre-season doesn't mean anything. I'm the DC for a team that's gone 64-0 over the past 4 seasons but seems to lose a game every pre-season since we don't game plan for those, but looking at the evidence from our leagues pre-season, among play-off teams or where play-off teams lost to non-play-off teams....

Trondheim 52 - Rome 7
Trondheim 65 - Langenfeld 3
Belfast 106 - Kilkenney 0
Belfast 62 - Lisbon 6
Birmingham 48 - London 6
Thunder Bay 62 - Langenfeld 9
Thunder Bay 59 - Baden 9
Thunder Bay 35 - Rome 33
Taranto 16 - Chesapeake 6
Lords 49 - Chesapeake 20
Lords 31 - Bretten 35

I didn't include the Glasgow vs Bow Street game since Bow Street quickly went away after that, but we're looking at 10 wins for Alpha and 1 win for Zeta.

Finally, lets look at the post season games so far. As with pre-season games, a lot of teams don't bother with these since they don't mean anything, but we'll look anyway...

Ukraine 28 - Baden 10
Birmingham 38 - London 3
Charlottetown 48 - Chesapeake 0
Charlottetown 40 - Kilkenny 3
Thunder Bay 62 - Kilkenny 0
Thunder Bay 27 - Langenfeld 3
Taranto 16 - Lisbon 6
Taranto 35 - Chesapeake 20
Lords 21 - Langenfeld 65
Lords 17 - Lisbon 41

Here we have 8 wins for Alpha and 2 wins for Zeta.

Total, over the pre-season, regular season, and post-season we have Alpha with a 23-4 advantage over Zeta.

Willinsky's claim is the top 6 teams in Alpha would be favored in the championship game. If we drop the 7th and 8th place teams out of this, Alpha holds a 13-0 advantage over zeta, 3-0 in week 1, 6-0 in the pre-season, and 4-0 so far this post-season.

That's a lot of games though most of them meaningless. I wouldn't go as far as to say that any of the top 6 in Alpha would be favored in the championship game, Glasgow is a solid team, but all signs point towards Alpha being the better conference when comparing the top six teams in each.
