I just rolled a +2 Str/+1 AP piece.

No. A OL should never face someone stronger than they.
I somewhat disagree. I have been using it for my center for the past season and a half. I notice much less stamina usage now than I did in the past. Generally I never finish a game with much less that 75-80 energy. I would say for centers or Guards, who will face NTs and DTs that have high strength it is worth it. For OTs, who will probably face DEs with less strength and more speed you should probably pass.

If you're going to use it I'd suggest seeing if you can get away with very little stamina (trained to 35, left alone)

LOL! If either of my Cs ever face a DT/NT as strong as he, I'll eat my shorts. They usually finish with 93-97 energy.

Do you think that it's working only on passing plays or does it seem to be working on running plays too?

Despite the wording, it doesn't only work against stronger players.
Still, I'm not convinced how useful it is.

Any proof of this?

Bort stated it a season or two ago. You shouldn't read much into the descriptions of the SAs. Tunnel Vision is another one Bort confirmed that the wording doesn't match up with how it actually works.

Don't have the exact post, no.

I recall that post as well. (Sorry, no link still.) "Stronger players" just implies that a stronger opponent is going to drain energy/morale more quickly than a weaker opponent, not that it literally only works against opposing players stronger than your own.
Somehow, I bet it's more useful than our collective gives it credit for... but maybe not. Confidence does more than impact morale and spending SP on Stamina is cheaper than bringing Absorb Pain to a high level. *shrug*

I had it around 8 with AE on an OT I had some seasons ago. I noticed his stamina seemed to be affected in some games and not others.
And FWIW, when I say proof, I mean you've seen it have an effect. I don't really trust much of what bort says. Obviously I lend it some credence, but the real proof is in the sim.

shrug, sta/energy and Conf/Morale are pretty hard to get a feel for anyway. Still with a +2 str I'd probably keep it depending on my other piece.

This. Get 2 good Cs with line general, your entire o-line in a 99/1 rotation (2 in each slot), everybody with capped stamina and 60 confidence, and your o-line will end every game with 100 morale and 90+ energy. Guaranteed.
We had the lowest level o-line in the league last season (outside of 2 gutjobs), and still racked up yards on the ground and gave up the 3rd least sacks and hurries.
Nobody has a point in absorb pain obv
