Because my script isn't that complex. It's based purely on stats. Maybe next season I can write something in javascript that will actually figure out head to head AND make predictions for the next games. Not enough time in the day to do it now.

Same problem as my script.

The Greasemonkey script is purely predictive.

There are two basic types of computer ratings/rankings, the first is predictive, the second is "retro-dictive".

Predictive, easily enough, says who will win when team X plays team Y and ranking based on those results.
Retro-dictive would be ranking teams based on actual game results.

The Greasemonkey script uses game data and determines the relative offensive and defensive strength of each team. Using that information it simulates games and the output of the script is effectively the standings from those simulations. According to the script, if Glasgow and Baden were to play tomorrow, Baden would be expected to win.

Neat.

Mine is "retro-dictive" and uses the stats from the stats page to rank teams based on their previous performance and has a tendency to make mistakes based on blow outs to CPU teams and such. I have dampeners on that now (/^2) to keep things closer. There are have a dozen or more inputs. It does a good job ranking around the third week and it also makes for good complaining about the rankings sucking... which is probably more important than being accurate.

Ok; I'll bite...Chesapeake would like to complain...we should be 32; that way we sneak up on teams

And the MAdrid Red Bulls should be number one. I can personally verify that each one of our losses was either a fluke or part of our brilliant masterplan of getting into the playoffs unnoticed.

How can Valkyres number 2, when we rank above them in offence and defence and not the least we beat them ?
