I've had oatmeal and chocolate stouts but never that combination. Brewery and beer name? Is it good? I remember Stone doing a bitter chocolate oatmeal stout as an anniversary beer a year or two ago but never tried it

Yeast was never part of the Reinheitsgebot (Germany Beer Purity Law) of 1516 nor was wheat. Part of the reason the German Beer Purity Law was introduced was to prevent price wars between brewers and bakers over the purchase of wheat and rye.
Yeast wasn't discovered in fermentation until 1857 when Louis Pasteur proved fermentation was conducted by living yeasts and not a chemical catalyst as was earlier thought.
Now, Leeuwenhoek observed yeast under a microscope in 1680, but at the time did not consider them to be living organisms. He thought of them as globular structures
