RG goes up against the NT, sometimes the LDE, most runs go to the right. Needs to be stronger and focus on run block SA's. Don't worry about pulling, it almost never works.

The LG goes up against the generally weaker DT, but the blitz seems to come more on the weak side so he also gets more help from the RB's. Probably needs more agility and vision than the RG, and lean more towards pass block SA's.

It usually comes down to SA's for me, other than that I think they're fairly interchangeable. I think there's a much bigger difference between the OT's.

I'm personally for LG, since I'm more the backside protectors of a QB

well you cannot neglect speed and agility for the RG as well, as he will need it during those stretch outside running plays.

Also for inside running plays, if the RG pancakes the DT, then we can look for and block one of the LBs

I've seen replays of Gs that have high speed/agility/vision (all 30+) and they haven't been able to pull either. They look nearly the same from what I've seen. Thus I'm a huge advocate of strength strength and more strength. Knock that NT on his ass.

my guard had 35 speed and over 45 agility and still couldnt get out infront effectively for 2 reason alone, the RT and TE. They always seemed to "chip" my guard thus slowing him down before the play could even materialize. On the plays where he had an open lane though he sometimes go infront of the Rb and other times didn't. I'll say this though, the times he did get infront added at least 5 yards to ever rush.

In my opinion the rg should be the strongest guard on the team since he faces the nt. Also most runs go to the right and strength is more important for run blocking. The lg should be the better passblocker since they take on the pass rushing dt and occasionally an end or bliting lb.
