So in case you missed it, the War Gods are the supreme rulers of Zeta for now. They ended up besting the Archangels in a battle of undefeateds and take sole possession of 1st place! Congrats War Gods!
But it isn’t over yet, anything can happen in the second half of the season and in the playoffs!
So in the Half Time Issue we grade the teams on their 1st half performance on a scale of 1 to 12 beers and look ahead to the second half

Well I think it is about time to wrap up the 5 game stretch of 60+ rated teams. And wrapping it up is the House of Pain. They haven’t fared too well this season, but there is really no reason to take them lightly either.
Win #7 in a row? Could there be another streak starting here?

1st Half Season Grade: 11 beers - The only loss was by the Freight Train and you have beaten two other pretty good teams, so I think you guys have accomplished what you wanted in the first half and I give you 11 beers. Well done.
#3 Excellence Express X Factor (7-1) LW3 - Aachen was aching after you got done with them, ha, ha,ha……..get it?.....Aachen…..Aching…….ha……..hee……..oh fuck it.
Anyway, the Sharpshooters are up next and the only thing they’ve been shooting lately is blanks.
Next opponent: #13 West Charleville Sharpshooters (2-6)
1st Half Season Grade: 11 beers - You guys have played three solid teams in the first half and won two of them. Plus the D has shut out the bad teams, which I think a top 3 team should be doing anyway. So I definitely think you guys have earned all of those 11 beers. Nicely done.
#4 Banja Luka Funky Bunch (7-1) LW4 - Wow! You guys put the Outrage in their place, 111-3. Great job!
But our old buddies, the Gods are back and tough as ever. I like playing the Gods because they wear those Togas all the time and sometimes when a good breeze comes along you can see Aphrodite’s cooch. Btw Chad, you owe me $20, I told you Aphrodite shaves it all off down there.

1st Half Season Grade: 10 ˝ beers – You guys dominated all the crap teams you played in the 1st half and have played two really good teams in the 1st half. You clobbered one and got beat big by the other. I give you guys 10 ˝ beers for getting whammied like that by the Freight Train and you really haven’t played a lot of good teams yet. Nice job so far though.
#5 Cincinnati Tigers (6-2) LW7 - Well the George represents your seventh win of the season, so enjoy ripping them to shreds.
But remember to use your extra time from not needing to game plan for this one wisely and prepare for the EEFX, who are up next after this one.

1st Half Season Grade: 9 ˝ beers - I gotta’ say that first you guys haven’t beaten a really good team yet, so your wins have come by beating up on the crap teams. Of course that isn’t your fault, you didn’t make the schedules, but the two good teams you have played really clobbered you guys, so I think the 9 ˝ beers rating is pretty fair. But you guys are playoff bound and should get at least 10 wins by seasons end.
#6 The Gods (5-3) LW6 - It’s time fort he Gods to get Funky!

1st Half Season Grade: 9 beers – Well I am honestly a little disappointed by the Gods 1st half. You guys have played four good teams in the first half and only beaten 1. And two of the losses were blow outs, so I think you guys have been solid by beating the crap teams and getting the 1 win over the Tigers, but also you guys have underachieved a little bit.
But you are definitely making the playoffs and I think you could end up with 10 or 11 wins by the end of the season. Well done and better luck in the second half.
#7 Odessa Outrage (5-3) LW5 - Well you went 5-3 in thefirst half without beating any teams rated equal with you or higher. So I'm a little worried about the second half. Hopefully you guys can fare a little better in the second half againstt he good teams.
But the good news is that there are really only 7 good teams in Alpha and there are 8 playoff spots, so you guys are definitely in by default.

Next opponent: at #16 Deimon Devil Bats (0-8)
1st Half Season Grade: 8 ˝ beers – OK, a 8 ˝ beers because the last two games the Outrage was just out done and got pasted by their opponents. You did make a good showing against the EEXF, which makes me think you guys are capable of better than a 5-3 record. The Outrage will definitely be in the post season and you legitimately have a chance at 12 wins this season, if you do better than the 1st half against the better teams.
Solid job in the first half though, good luck in the 2nd half.
#8 House Of Pain (3-5) LW9 - The Freight Train, Funky Bunch and Lumberjacks are definite losses, to be honest. But if you can beat the rest of the crap teams, then the game against the Baby Chickens could decide if you are playoff bound or not. You can’t afford more than the three losses already named in the 2nd half.
Next opponent: at #2 Lithuanian Lumberjacks (7-1)
1st Half Season Grade: 6 beers – Being out leveled has been your problem. Either it’s bad builds or bad game planning, but I think you guys are where you should be. You just need another season or two to become very competitive. Only 7 beers because you did clobber the Sharpshooters and you could get at least 4 more wins to make a respectable run at 7-9. Good luck, HOP.
#9 Tallinn Nightmare (3-5) LW11 - Well just chalk this game up as a loss. There is no way you guys can stop the Freight Train.
But let’s take a look at the rest of the season real quick. If you guys want any shot at the 8th playoff spot, you will need at least 8 wins. I see one for sure win and two other good shots at wins still on the table, but the other two will have to come against the Tigers or Baby Chickens and that will be tough going for you guys.
You aren’t really out of contention yet, but the door is almost shut, so you will have to keep winning to keep it open.
Next opponent: at #1 Ukraine Freight Train (8-0)
1st Half Season Grade: 5 beers – You guys have much lower levels than the rest of the league and I think you will be more competitive in a season or two. That heartbreak loss to the Sharpshooters is prolly the loss that really cut your chance at a playoff spot down big time.

#10 Vestfold Vikings (3-5) LW12 - You have 5 legit chances at wins left on the schedule and if you lose here you might as well pack it in.
It all comes down to this game here, Vikings. So best of luck in this one, it will make or break your season.

1st Half Season Grade: 4 beers – Another team that will be competitive in a couple seasons. Being out leveled is their problem, but I’ll give you 5 beers so you can get buzzed, but still drive yourselves home.
#11 Sparta Baby Chickens (3-5) LW10 – OK here’s the situation for you Baby chicks. You need to run the table on any team rated 60 or lower left on your schedule. That will give you 8 wins and the edge over any other team vying for that #8 playoff spot. It starts here with the Vikings, lose this one and your playoff chances are in peril.
Better start thinking as if every game is a playoff game.
Next opponent: at #10 Vestfold Vikings (3-5)
1st Half Season Grade: 5 beers – I give you guys 5 beers simply because I think you are the favorite to claim the last playoff spot in Alpha. You out level the crap teams, so you should obliterate any team rated 60 or lower.
You are also rated at 63 and are getting bitch slapped by teams equally or better rated than you guys. You guys should be the #8 playoff team and have at least 8 wins by seasons end.

#5 Bratislava Zabijaks (6-2) LW5 - So you guys draw the Meteors to start off the second half of the season. That’s a tough start to an already rough road to the playoffs.

#6 Vatican City Bishops (6-2) LW6 - Well it looks like the good lord did not favor you with an easy start to the second half of season 12.
The Swarm and War Gods start you off after a great first half. Wins are never easy to come by in this league, so you might have to call for a crusade to the promised land.
Next opponent: #9 Serbia Swarm (5-3)
1st Half Season Grade: 10 ˝ beers – You guys may have lost two games, but you really weren’t blown out in them. The Reivers beat you by 6 and you were actually leading the Archangels at half time. They really only blew you out in the third quarter, so I would say you fared pretty well against them. Plus you scored wins over the Meteors, Black Hand and the Gods, so all in all that is a very good first half. Great job.
#7 Tunguska Meteors (5-3) LW7 - I think you guys are assured of 8 wins at the least, so the other 5 games will be rough going. The Zabijacks start off the second half, so let’s see if you can build off of a pretty solid first half performance.

1st Half Season Grade: 8 beers – Well the losses to the War Gods and Wombats are understandable, but you guys let a win slip your grasp against the Bishops. The two big wins were the 1 point victory over the Bootleggers and a three point win over the Serbia Swarm, so not too bad of a first half. I gave 8 beers because you were winning that game against the Bishops, so you fared well against some of the tougher teams in Zeta.
#8 Kentucky Bootleggers (5-3) LW9 - Nice new logo to start off the second half. Very nice.
First you get to romp on the Meltdowns, but after that it gets a little tricky. You guys will need to pile up some wins over lesser rated teams to move up, plus the playoffs in Zeta is not guaranteed because there are nine contenders for only 8 slots in Zeta.
It’s time to get to work, Bootleggers.
Next opponent: at #13 Springfield Meltdowns (2-6)
1st Half Season Grade: 7 beers – Well you did beat the Black Hand, but only by 5. Then you guys had a 1 point loss to Tunguska and an 8 point loss to the Zabijacks and a blow out loss to the Wombats. You guys will need to step it up in the 2nd half after a pretty average performance in the 1st half.

#9 Serbia Swarm (5-3) LW8 - This is going to be one very rough second half for the Swarm. Six teams are rated 63 or better and so far you guys are 0-3 against teams rated 63 or more.
Nine playoff worthy teams in Zeta this season and only 8 spots open, which means someone will be watching the playoffs from their computer. Actually we will all be watching from our computers, but you know what I mean.
Don’t let that someone be the Swarm.
Next opponent: at #6 Vatican City Bishops (6-2)
1st Half Season Grade: 6 beers – Although you guys are 5-3, the five wins came against teams that were lesser rated than you. The teams that were equally or rated better than you all beat you. Even though one was a three point loss, the first half was a little lackluster.
#10 Beograd Black Hand (3-5) LW11 - OK, here is win number four!
So forget about the 1st half. There are 4 easy wins available in the 2nd half and that would boost your win total to 7. So you will need to get some wins over the tougher teams left to play. The Vikings, Swarm and Meteors are your best bet. If you can get a couple of extra wins out of those games you could still have a chance at a playoff spot.

1st Half Season Grade: 6 beers – I originally was going to give the Black Hand 5 berers for he 1st half grade, but I had to give an extra for the great effort.
Of their first 8 games, six of them were against teams at 63 or better and they played all of those six in six straight games. Talk about the schedule makers not liking you, sheesh!
But they ended up going 1-5 in that string of six games and really, only one team blew them out. The other four losses were by no more than 7 points. Even though they ended up on the side of bad luck, they still put in a great effort.
So really good job, Black Hand.
#11 Berlin Vikings (3-5) LW10 - Enjoy this 4th win with the Offtopics, because your second half schedule is a doozy and you guys could be in trouble.
Next opponent: #15 Secretville Offtopics (0-8)
1st Half Season Grade: 4 beers – Not much has gone the Vikings way in the first half. They did beat the Nightmare who was equally rated and they beat up on the lesser teams, but have been blown away by all the higher rated teams they have played. I think this is just a case of too many better teams in the same conference. Had there been some more teams that they were rated equal against, the season might have turned out better.

Nice job so far though.
#5 Cincinnati Tigers (6-2) LW7 - Well the George represents your seventh win of the season, so enjoy ripping them to shreds.
But remember to use your extra time from not needing to game plan for this one wisely and prepare for the EEFX, who are up next after this one.

1st Half Season Grade: 9 ˝ beers - I gotta’ say that first you guys haven’t beaten a really good team yet, so your wins have come by beating up on the crap teams. Of course that isn’t your fault, you didn’t make the schedules, but the two good teams you have played really clobbered you guys, so I think the 9 ˝ beers rating is pretty fair. But you guys are playoff bound and should get at least 10 wins by seasons end.

1st Half Season Grade: 9 beers – Well I am honestly a little disappointed by the Gods 1st half. You guys have played four good teams in the first half and only beaten 1. And two of the losses were blow outs, so I think you guys have been solid by beating the crap teams and getting the 1 win over the Tigers, but also you guys have underachieved a little bit.
But you are definitely making the playoffs and I think you could end up with 10 or 11 wins by the end of the season. Well done and better luck in the second half.
#7 Odessa Outrage (5-3) LW5 - Well you went 5-3 in thefirst half without beating any teams rated equal with you or higher. So I'm a little worried about the second half. Hopefully you guys can fare a little better in the second half againstt he good teams.
But the good news is that there are really only 7 good teams in Alpha and there are 8 playoff spots, so you guys are definitely in by default.

Next opponent: at #16 Deimon Devil Bats (0-8)
1st Half Season Grade: 8 ˝ beers – OK, a 8 ˝ beers because the last two games the Outrage was just out done and got pasted by their opponents. You did make a good showing against the EEXF, which makes me think you guys are capable of better than a 5-3 record. The Outrage will definitely be in the post season and you legitimately have a chance at 12 wins this season, if you do better than the 1st half against the better teams.
Solid job in the first half though, good luck in the 2nd half.
#8 House Of Pain (3-5) LW9 - The Freight Train, Funky Bunch and Lumberjacks are definite losses, to be honest. But if you can beat the rest of the crap teams, then the game against the Baby Chickens could decide if you are playoff bound or not. You can’t afford more than the three losses already named in the 2nd half.
Next opponent: at #2 Lithuanian Lumberjacks (7-1)
1st Half Season Grade: 6 beers – Being out leveled has been your problem. Either it’s bad builds or bad game planning, but I think you guys are where you should be. You just need another season or two to become very competitive. Only 7 beers because you did clobber the Sharpshooters and you could get at least 4 more wins to make a respectable run at 7-9. Good luck, HOP.
#9 Tallinn Nightmare (3-5) LW11 - Well just chalk this game up as a loss. There is no way you guys can stop the Freight Train.
But let’s take a look at the rest of the season real quick. If you guys want any shot at the 8th playoff spot, you will need at least 8 wins. I see one for sure win and two other good shots at wins still on the table, but the other two will have to come against the Tigers or Baby Chickens and that will be tough going for you guys.
You aren’t really out of contention yet, but the door is almost shut, so you will have to keep winning to keep it open.
Next opponent: at #1 Ukraine Freight Train (8-0)
1st Half Season Grade: 5 beers – You guys have much lower levels than the rest of the league and I think you will be more competitive in a season or two. That heartbreak loss to the Sharpshooters is prolly the loss that really cut your chance at a playoff spot down big time.

#11 Sparta Baby Chickens (3-5) LW10 – OK here’s the situation for you Baby chicks. You need to run the table on any team rated 60 or lower left on your schedule. That will give you 8 wins and the edge over any other team vying for that #8 playoff spot. It starts here with the Vikings, lose this one and your playoff chances are in peril.
Better start thinking as if every game is a playoff game.

1st Half Season Grade: 5 beers – I give you guys 5 beers simply because I think you are the favorite to claim the last playoff spot in Alpha. You out level the crap teams, so you should obliterate any team rated 60 or lower.
You are also rated at 63 and are getting bitch slapped by teams equally or better rated than you guys. You guys should be the #8 playoff team and have at least 8 wins by seasons end.

1st Half Season Grade: 10 ˝ beers – You guys may have lost two games, but you really weren’t blown out in them. The Reivers beat you by 6 and you were actually leading the Archangels at half time. They really only blew you out in the third quarter, so I would say you fared pretty well against them. Plus you scored wins over the Meteors, Black Hand and the Gods, so all in all that is a very good first half. Great job.
#7 Tunguska Meteors (5-3) LW7 - I think you guys are assured of 8 wins at the least, so the other 5 games will be rough going. The Zabijacks start off the second half, so let’s see if you can build off of a pretty solid first half performance.

1st Half Season Grade: 8 beers – Well the losses to the War Gods and Wombats are understandable, but you guys let a win slip your grasp against the Bishops. The two big wins were the 1 point victory over the Bootleggers and a three point win over the Serbia Swarm, so not too bad of a first half. I gave 8 beers because you were winning that game against the Bishops, so you fared well against some of the tougher teams in Zeta.
#8 Kentucky Bootleggers (5-3) LW9 - Nice new logo to start off the second half. Very nice.
First you get to romp on the Meltdowns, but after that it gets a little tricky. You guys will need to pile up some wins over lesser rated teams to move up, plus the playoffs in Zeta is not guaranteed because there are nine contenders for only 8 slots in Zeta.
It’s time to get to work, Bootleggers.

1st Half Season Grade: 7 beers – Well you did beat the Black Hand, but only by 5. Then you guys had a 1 point loss to Tunguska and an 8 point loss to the Zabijacks and a blow out loss to the Wombats. You guys will need to step it up in the 2nd half after a pretty average performance in the 1st half.

#9 Serbia Swarm (5-3) LW8 - This is going to be one very rough second half for the Swarm. Six teams are rated 63 or better and so far you guys are 0-3 against teams rated 63 or more.
Nine playoff worthy teams in Zeta this season and only 8 spots open, which means someone will be watching the playoffs from their computer. Actually we will all be watching from our computers, but you know what I mean.
Don’t let that someone be the Swarm.
Next opponent: at #6 Vatican City Bishops (6-2)
1st Half Season Grade: 6 beers – Although you guys are 5-3, the five wins came against teams that were lesser rated than you. The teams that were equally or rated better than you all beat you. Even though one was a three point loss, the first half was a little lackluster.
#10 Beograd Black Hand (3-5) LW11 - OK, here is win number four!
So forget about the 1st half. There are 4 easy wins available in the 2nd half and that would boost your win total to 7. So you will need to get some wins over the tougher teams left to play. The Vikings, Swarm and Meteors are your best bet. If you can get a couple of extra wins out of those games you could still have a chance at a playoff spot.

1st Half Season Grade: 6 beers – I originally was going to give the Black Hand 5 berers for he 1st half grade, but I had to give an extra for the great effort.
Of their first 8 games, six of them were against teams at 63 or better and they played all of those six in six straight games. Talk about the schedule makers not liking you, sheesh!
But they ended up going 1-5 in that string of six games and really, only one team blew them out. The other four losses were by no more than 7 points. Even though they ended up on the side of bad luck, they still put in a great effort.
So really good job, Black Hand.
#11 Berlin Vikings (3-5) LW10 - Enjoy this 4th win with the Offtopics, because your second half schedule is a doozy and you guys could be in trouble.
Next opponent: #15 Secretville Offtopics (0-8)
1st Half Season Grade: 4 beers – Not much has gone the Vikings way in the first half. They did beat the Nightmare who was equally rated and they beat up on the lesser teams, but have been blown away by all the higher rated teams they have played. I think this is just a case of too many better teams in the same conference. Had there been some more teams that they were rated equal against, the season might have turned out better.
