Agreed, the offense should always be changing. You need to take from each victory and loss what things may or may not work. Your playbook and AI at the end of the season should be vastly different from the beginning. Heck, you might even have multiple playbooks (AI's) for different teams.

Although ANY system is basically a guess , it is cool that you took the time to investigate everyones team. I would like to have seen the toronto tigers ranked a bit higher, but the next few games will tell the tale for the tigers. Toughest part of the schedule coming up.

So I wrote a ranking system based on (your wins + the number of wins by teams you've beaten) - (your losses + the number of losses by the teams that beat you) and ran it. I got some interesting results. I then went looking around the internet, and I found a GreaseMonkey script that does rankings of some sort (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/51628). From the description, it sounds like it's doing some combination of the PF-PA thing I was doing and the point system I described. But when I run it, I get totally nutty results.

Well, after More Cowbell beat the Mountianeers, the PF-PA method was still ranking the Mountianeers #2 and More Cowbell #5. I fiddled with the formula a little (increased the strength of schedule effect slightly), and now at least they're closer together. Unfortunately, now the Purple Plainsmen are ranked higher than AWW because AWW has had such a weak schedule--this is particularly a problem, because AWW just beat PP pretty convincingly.
Because I'm still dissatisfied with that, I went ahead and did all three polls again. But going forward, I'll probably drop all but the PF-PA, because frankly it's a little tedious trying to get them all up there. If you really like the one with SoS and whatnot in it, you can get the script yourself.
Congratulations, by the way to AWW and More Cowbell--big wins tonight. Also congratulations to the compton vikings. You've moved out of last place in all three polls with the big win tonight!

Gongadan, you are the man. I tried to do a ranking using your Wins/Loss points system, and holy hell did that take forever. I actually ended up just stopping after 10 teams and went back to my own type of ranking. I used to do the scripts, but as you've noticed, it will give you some funky outputs, mainly due to strength of schedule. But yeah, your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Anyway, I just realized that someone who doesn't understand my twisted mind might not realize that the first five columns (rank, Off, Def, SoS, and the first team name) are all a part of one ranking system, but the last two columns are unrelated to that information; they're part of different ranking systems altogether.
But anyway, I'm probably only going to do the PF-PA system from here on out. And it's not just because that's the one my team is at the top of!
