I thought everyone just temp boosted when they needed an extra sp.

If you created a player after the start of BT's, there is almost no reason to temp boost for games. For older dudes with only 1 piece of AEQ and base skills pretty high it makes a little sense to time your temp boosts with big games. For most of my guys here I think most temp boosts have actualy happened in the offseason around boosting time to maximize those boosts with the extra SP.
