Okay, here they are again. This week we see Rhodesia jump to the top spot, and BDM jump up to 2nd. The Jackals fall down to 3rd. Choctaw and Rwanda round out the top 5. I thought Lion>Elephant?

31 ........ 32 ........ 32 ........ 0.806 ........ Gambia Diamond Cutters
32 ........ 31 ........ 31 ........ 0.500 ........ Flashdancing Platypi

And the match ups for this week:

Johannesburg Jackals vs. Somalia Shango
Somalia has had a tough season, and it doesn’t get any easier this week. JJ wins 45-10

CollegeTown USA vs. The Nile Denial
The game of the week IMO. A little early to think about playoff seeding maybe, but a win here would go far in giving one team a leg up for home field advantage. College Town has looked impressive in their first season in AAA, and I expected them to. The Nile Denial is still the favorite to win the Conference, has been here before, and they know how to win these types of games. I’m going to go with TND 35-28

Rwanda Headhunters vs. Tangiers Cape Buffalo
TCB is coming off of a nice win, and would like nothing more than to upset the favored Headhunters. Rwanda is starting to look like a home playoff team come playoff time, and need to beat the teams they are favored against to get there. In the end, Headhunters win 40-24.

Dryden Blue Balls vs. Newfoundland Norsemen
BALLS!!! Man did they look impressive beating a very good AP team. Look out for these guys. They of course have no problem with the CPU. Balls win big.

Zulu Death Warriors vs. Carthaginian War Elephants
Another great game as two good teams battle it out. Zulu comes into the game with the better record at 4-2, one game ahead of the Elephants at 3-3. IMO however, CWE has had the tougher schedule to date. Zulu has a great passing game and of course will try to throw all over the place, but CWE did a pretty good job shutting down the Jackals passing, so I’m going to take them in an upset win. CWE wins 27-24 in OT.

Answer Please vs. Mean Machine
AP has got to be stinging after that last second loss to Balls. Sometimes losses like that can help refocus a team though. I expect them to bounce back big this week, with a 35+ win over the Mean Machine. Don’t worry MM, I’ll pick you to win next week!

PTT Rebels vs. Flashdancing Platypi
PTT is clinging to that all important 8th spot in the conference after a 2 point win against Dakar, but they better be careful, as CWE may sneak up and take it from them. They have no problems this week, and beat the Platypi handily.

Dakar Vampires vs. Band of Brothers
Dakar came up just short last week, but they are proving every week that they can play with the big boys of the conference. They have had a pretty tough schedule so far, so they could make a run into the playoff picture as the season progresses. BoB is just a shell of their former team……. Dakar wins 58-10

Swaziland Semnikati vs. River Styx Jinx
RSJ got it done last week, but this week may be a different story. Swaziland is undefeated, and looking to hold onto that top spot in Elephant, with MNR tied at 6-0, and BDM and RR breathing down their necks. RSJ is one game back from that 8th spot, and need this win to get back into the mix. SS wins this time though, 38-27

Mamelodi Night Runners vs. Corrupted Presidents
Even though MNR has had about the easiest schedule in the conference, being undefeated is still a big deal. All you can do is play the hand your dealt, and they have done just that. The CP is coming off a very nice win against SSBM, and now find themselves one game back from the playoff picture. They would love to upset MNR and vault into the playoff picture, but I just don’t see that happening this time. MNR wins 28-17.

Blood Diamond Marauders vs. Blood Bowl
This is probably the game of the week in Elephant, and I predict a lot of Blood……. BDM bounced back nicely after that loss to Choctaw, and pounded a pretty good Sabercats team. The Blood Bowl got edged out in a defensive battle against RSJ. I expect that the Blood Bowl will bounce back, but not this week. BDM looks to be on a mission, and everyone in Elephant should beware. BDM wins 42-24

Rhodesia Ratels vs. Seychelles Sabercats
Oh those dirty Rats! They went and let the air out of the Choctaw sales, and pretty much rained on their parade. Sure, playoffs are all that matters, but it’s nice to send messages during the regular season too. The Sabercats lost big to a very good BDM team. I know that the Sabercats are better than that, and I’m sure that they would love to show it this week. Did they take their Jessica Landry vaccination though? I don’t think they did. RR wins 32-28

Swaziland Southern Brown Mambas vs. Bien Hoa Bushidos'
The Bushidos have looked lost this season. I figured they would do a little better than they have this season, but it seems that the Jump to AAA has been tough. I hope they turn it around. The Mambas are 4-2, but have played a very easy schedule. They lost a close one last week to the Presidents, and probably need to turn up the intensity if they want to stay in the playoff race. I like SSBM in this one 32-25

Choctaw Cracker Party vs. Teikoku Alexanders
Teikoku looked good in their win over the Freedom Fighters, and may have turned their ship around. Even though they are 2-4, they aren’t out of the playoff hunt yet. Not by a long shot. Choctaw lost a karma game to RR, and may be coming back down to earth after their hot start. They also have the Sabercats coming up next week in a rematch of their playoff loss last season. Are they looking past Teikoku? I don’t know, but I’m going to pick TA anyways, in the upset. 27-21

Asmara Freedom Fighters vs. ßotswana ßone ßreakers
They’ll fight for freedom, wherever there is trouble……… AFF has had a tough road in their first season in AAA, but I think that BBB has the cure for what ails them. BBB needs to pull out a win or two this season, or they could be facing the relegation train. AFF wins this one 68-6

Andorian Commandos vs. Gambia Diamond Cutters
From their team page: “The Commandos are re-grouping for their championship run in season 11 on their way to Pro.” I don’t know if they have a championship run in them this season, but they did beat the hell out of BBB last game. That’s got to feel pretty good. They have another easy win, against the gutted GDC. Cammandos by a lot.

Not sure how this thing has Rhodesia at #1. I still say BDM is the team to beat come playoff time, and Rhodesia, Choctaw and MNR are not too far behind, with about 5 or 6 teams outside those 4 with a shot to stir things up.

MNR has had the 2nd easiest first half out of contending teams, and a brutal second half of the season. We'll find out what they're made of starting week 9, where they'll go into the game 8-0.

Swaziland has had the easiest first half of the season. 1 out of 6 games was "game plan worthy' (Corrupted Presidents).. Now they've got 9 in a row before they get their week 16 bye.

Most of the other teams have faced a little more variety in terms of competition, including BDM + RR + Choctaw all playing each other already. (Result for each team is a 1-1 record) Both MNR and Swaziland could either prove to be head and shoulders above these 3 teams, or they could fall to the wayside and show up in the 4 & 5 slots, or even low, if a couple teams make a move.

I think you give too much weight to BDM's loss to Choctaw. They exposed a mistake in our defensive AI and took advantage of it. Out of the Pro formation, our RDE was dropping into deep coverage. They ran FB Sweep Weak, HB Quick Pitch Weak and HB Out from the Pro Set about 40 times and picked up a minimum of 5 yards each time. On the final drive when they were losing, every single plays was one of those 3 plays all the way down the field. Don't get me wrong, Choctaw is a good team, but without that mistake in our AI, we don't lose that game.

I think the jury is still out on MNR. They were a very good team last season and it doesn't look like that made a lot of changes in the off season. They have had a very easy schedule so far this season and it is about to get a lot tougher real quick. I am looking forward to our shot at them this season after they beat us last season.

I am predicting a crash landing coming up real quick for Swaziland. They have also had a very easy schedule but I don't think they will come out of it the same way MNR will. They were 6-10 last season and I didn't see any changes in the off season they. It is a great start for them as they have matched last season's win total, but they could very easily go 1-9 to finish out the season.

I expected a tougher game from Rhodesia and was very surprised we handled them 52-20. We were able to completely shut down Jessica Landry. Last season she rolled up 200+ yards on us in their win.

I see a clear cut top 4 teams in BDM, MNR, Rhodesia and Choctaw. The conference champion will come from 1 of those 4 teams. After that it is anybody's guess.

Thanks for the write up dsl20! You Rock!!

NP. Also, I didn't weight BDM's loss to Choctaw at all. (if you were talking to me) The power rankings is a script that some guy smarter than me came up with. All I do is hit a button, and they spit out. Easy, but not necessarily accurate. From what I hear, they get more accurate as the season goes along. Maybe one of these times I'll do my own personal power rankings.

But, at least it's getting the forum a little active huh?

I am still using Version 1 at this point in the season. I am just not in here enough to post them like the past 2 seasons. I use it to scout an opponent still.

I am a huge fan of the Power Rankings.

Its good to see us as the #5 team [#4 in V 1.0] as I feel the Headhunters have had a tough schedule so far. The good news is that we've beaten the teams we must to get a home playoff game. So far, at least.

Its a really good League this season.

Hilarious. Who decided to make the RE do that in the first place?

It was a mistake, it happens. But lets just say that I am the Offensive Coordinator. But I didn't have the best game plan for that game either as I was only able to put up 17 points.

yeah but we have gone 5-2 in scrimmages against 5 AAA teams, 1 Pro and 1 AA as opposed to your 3 AA's and 1 AAA CPU team
overall, we lost to the USA AAA and WEurope AAA team...the Pro team we beat was from Eastern Europe

We held them, defensively, to a FG. The D is really clamping down now, especially in the 4th q of games. Its nice to see our guys stay together for so long being able to compete at high levels.

GG, Buffs.
