I know that bort has mentioned that there is diminishing returns on SAs over 10, but I can't find anything to say if there are diminishing returns on attributes over 100. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Depends on the formulae. It also depends what you mean on diminishing returns. On a roll in which two attributes and say some other factor contribute to the score, raising one at the expense of the other could be said to have diminishing returns. Attributes work differently than SAs do though, so the "diminishing returns" description doesn't apply in quite the same way. SAs are a specific value bonus that don't rely on any other factors.

specifically i mean STR when determining tackle breaking. i have a short yardage back approaching 112 str.

I believe you're fine in either case, but back in the day there was mystery over natural attributes going over 100 (but iirc Bort has said that there are no diminishing returns on attributes, even over 100 natural)... if your 112 strength is with EQ, you're fine, but even if it was natural I believe you'd be fine too..

Correct. I have a punter with natural punting at 111 and overall punting over 140, and have seen incremental improvements all along the way. Bort had said that there is no change to the gains beyond 100. That said, he also didn't think one could pass 100 naturally.

I would hazard a guess that the break tackle formula is something like:
(<var1>*strength + <var2>*agility + some other factors)*RF*bonuses = break tackle

in that case, in terms of SP spent, say 7 into str for 1 point or into power thru for let's say to go from 5 to 7, which would give a %age increase of a higher bonus...you'd have to know the numbers to know whether the returns diminish or not, but I think the way you're (incorrectly) using the term, the answer is no, there aren't diminishing returns.

Well technically speaking, attributes have their diminishing returns built directly into the cost (the SP caps). There are no further diminishing returns on attributes, other than the ever increasing cost. I.E. 1 attribute point, will always be equal to 1 attribute point in regards to the sim.

As for the formulas on things like "break tackle"... it's a contested roll. Thus you want as much of an advantage over the opposing player as possible. In as many of the corresponding attributes as possible. The trick is to find the balance where taking an attribute up becomes less valuable than taking a different attribute up. I.E. Is taking strength from 73 to 74 better than taking carrying from 59 to 61? In terms of breaking tackles anyways... these are things that we have to figure out through trial and error, since there's very little documentation on the actual formulas.
