#1 Macedonia Marauders
The Marauders are the team to beat this season and are the favorites to win Zeta at this point until someone is able to prove otherwise (wink wink). Opponents better have a strong passing attack, as you're not going to get it done on the ground against this team. Their offense is by no means unstoppable, but their stellar defense is going to put them in position to score.
Biggest Win to Date: 08/22/2009 Bakersfield Nanananas W 41-16
Next Big Game08/24/2009 at Istanbul Anatolian Guard Dawgs
#2 Spokane River Rats
Spokane has an eye on the championship, but must remain focused and keep their ego to a minimum to get the job done properly. Their offense is infested with pro bowlers in the passing game. Their running game is a dependable distraction from their air game. Defensively they are a tough team in the redzone, but they need to keep teams out of there to begin with.
Biggest Win to Date: 08/16/2009 at Western Branch Bruins W 59-10
Next Big Game09/01/2009 Wroclaw Wolverines
#3 Istanbul Anatolian Guard Dawgs
The Dawgs also have an extremely solid defense. It's hard to determine which aspect of their defense needs more attention from opponents, the rushing or passing. This is a team that will make you pay for any mistakes or lapse of judgment. They have a solid rushing offense, but are somewhat one-dimensional here as their passing game is mediocre. Their QB has a decent build for his level (hint hint), but this is more likely true of every QB in the league, so a level 45 is just not going to cut it. They do, however, have one of the best return units in the league.
Biggest Win to Date: 08/20/2009 Sacramento Sacrilege W 66-19
Next Big Game: 08/24/2009 Macedonia Marauders
#4 Wroclaw Wolverines
I did not see this team as any bit of a threat to make a championship run, but their game with the Marauders made me rethink that opinion. Did the Marauders goof on their AI or is this team the real deal? They have a chance to show more of what they have in the next two games, but right now they appear to have an outstanding secondary
Biggest Win to Date: 08/18/2009 Macedonia Marauders L 13-15
- This was not one for the W column, but this performance has to be seen as a victory for the Wolverines. Their defense held tough against a top contender and solid running game in Macedonia. Their offense was not able to get anything going, but that is nothing to be worried about considering the opponent
Next Big Game: 08/24/2009 at Austin Pirates
#5 Slovakia Stunners
This team tends to fly under the radar, but make no mistake about it, this is a very tough dotball team. They will upset 1 or 2 top 4 teams this season. Anyone who takes the Stunners lightly will live to regret it. They have no real dominant force on either side of the ball, but they are still solid in all aspects of the game.
Biggest Win to Date: Danish Disaster W 26-9
Next Big Game: 08/26/2009 Austin Pirates
#6 Bakersfield Nanananas
It was tough to put this team all the way down at 6. This is a talented football team, but they have massive depth issues. The defense is going to struggle against any solid passing threat and their offensive line is going to crack against any semi-decent DL. Any recruiting they undergo at this point will not fix their problems, as the chemistry hit from this will take them out of top form. They need to get rolling with plugging their holes as they do still have enough talent to land a playoff seed. At that point, any chemistry declines will have had a chance to rebound.
Biggest Game to Date: 08/18/2009 at Sacramento Sacrilege W 24-20
Next Big Game: 08/26/2009 at Wroclaw Wolverines
#7 Sacramento Sacrilege
This is a mediocre football team, but they are solid enough to stay competitive. They need to solidify their backups/depth on defense to have any hopes at a serious playoff run.
Biggest Win to Date: 8/16/2009 at Berlin Devil Dogs W 29-27
Next Big Game: 08/24/2009 at Nikopolis Stoic Hedonists
#8 Austin Pirates
Another team with a solid starting lineup, but they have some depth issues at SS. If this team manages to squeak in to the playoffs, they could put up a fight once their chemistry bounces back. They could, but they won't - their secondary will get exploited hard by the top teams.
Biggest Win to Date 08/20/2009 at Danish Disasters W 37-30
Next Big Game: 8/24/2009 Wroclaw Wolverines
#9 Nikopolis Stoic Hedonists
Mediocre team, but has solid depth. May squeak into playoffs if their chemistry recovers in time. They may have a nod over teams close in skill to them considering they do have depth.
Biggest Win to Date: 08/16/2009 Finland Falcons W 52-13
Next Big Game 08/24/2009 Sacramento Sacrilege
#10 Danish Disasters
Mediocre team with major depth issues. They stand no real shot at being any decent team this season.
Biggest Win to Date: 08/18/2009 at Duluth Bulldogs W 30-21

#12 Chippewa Predators
