Games to Watch

Balanced Game of the Week

Brisbane Bulldogs @ Tasmania Tigers

The Brisbane Bulldogs won a good game over NMI then dropped a very close one against Sydney. They’re not blowing anyone away statistically but they’ve been getting the job done for the most part, in the case of the solo loss, they were just out played that day against another solid team. Tasmania has won both of their contests, neither of which were remotely close. They’re nearly top 10 everywhere in the stat rankings, and this will be their first real test against a solid team this season. I am actually going to throw down a prediction here. I am looking for a very solid game, a 7-10 point game at the most. The winner obviously is going to be the one that gets the most turnovers imo. I’m picking Brisbane for the upset, keeping in mind that it wouldn’t shock anyone If either team won this game, both are great teams.

Powerhouse Game of the of the Week

Atlantis Lost Souls @ Samoa Gangsters

ALS has played well obviously and has won decisively over their first two opponents, but now they face the Samoa Gangers, a team with a chip on their shoulder. Samoa dropped a game that they feel they should’ve won last week and now they’re looking to take that frustration out on ALS. While I’m suggesting both of these teams as powerhouse teams, ALS is going to have to step up on Defense because Samoa has a great O & D. Samoa is still going to have to watch out for the Atlantis offense. This game could be a great, close game, and it could just as easily be a blowout.

Middle of the Road Game of the Week

Rip City Reign @ Chillicothe Convicts

RCR is STILL holding on to the opportunity for their first win. They are ranked dead last statistically, the sympathetic part of me would like to pick them to win here.. but the Convicts have a top 10 O, but very poorly ranked Defense. Obviously the game is going to be about possessions, who has the most possessions and what they can do with them, that’s what every game is about. In this situation, if RCR gets started offensively they may have a chance, but they will have to contain Chillicothe, who’s proven capability to win last week. With all of that said I am going to make a prediction. On the Logical Side, stats would tell me to go with Chillicothe it makes sense. On the sympathetic side, RCR, you almost WANT to see them win at least 1. So which side do I go with? Sorry…but Chillcothe… I have to pick against you. This week I’m going with RCR to finally grab a win and pull an upset here.

Oceania Pro Alpha ‘Blitzorade’ Game of the Week

Gold Coast Vipers @ Molokai Lavastorm

GCV, if you base them on stats they’re not doing too well. They had a tough loss to Knox and a solid win over the Wilddogs. But the same can be said for Molokai, with a close win and a fairly close loss and average statistical rankings. Both of these teams have talent and that is a large part of what makes this the game of the week in my opinion. Two teams, at the moment, playing about average, pitted against each other with playoff implications (they exist EVERY week truth be told). I don’t know who’ll win this one but I look for a lights out football game. I have a feeling that someone’s going to pull off a jaw dropping play or there is going to be a game winning FG for one of the two teams and that is going to be the deciding factor. Good Luck Gentlemen, and folks, don’t you dare miss it!

Oceania Pro Zeta ‘Tostito Goal’ Game of the Week

Olden Swillers @ Guadalcanal Gunners

Olden, where the heck did this team come from? Yes, I know they were pretty good last season and that everyone has improved this season but damn, they are playing GREAT right now! Two solid wins, Canberra & Samoa and they now face Guadalcanal. Statistically, Olden is ranked well offensively and about middle of the road defensively. Guadalcanal is ranked 1st in the league offensively and #4 Defensively. GG has also been on a wrath of terror, lighting it up after two games and definitely looking to do that again. This game is going to be too tough to call but I think it could be a very high scoring game tbh. Call in the medics, you’re going to need them after this one is over!!!!

I honestly that Taz will win by as much as 30. They've been on a roll. When a team beats a Top 3 team by almost 20, I think they'll beat a first year team by more. No offense Bulldogs, you guys played us close, but Taz is just that much better than us.

another quality write up as usual jack, thanks again.

and frankly, i think that tasmania, guadalcanal, and kingston are the clear top three in this league and will win most, if not all of their games by 30+. the fact that tasmania beat kingston that badly is, frankly, fucking terrifying for me and the rest of us at GG.

Thanks for the write-up Jack, always fun to read. I wish the Bulldogs the best of luck tonight !

**On a personal note, Kingston is a top tier team...they've kicked our asses 3 straight seasons and I still think they are top 3 material. Kingston, nothing but mucho respect for you guys. The bulldogs are a great team, but I'm looking forward to flexing our muscles tonight. If we get defeated, I'll gladly tip my hat....say GG....and move on **

Oh and @pple thanks buddy, but 55-27 = 28 pt difference (just saying). @pple needs Moar Math Skillz

You guys should know me by now though. What fun are these write-ups if i don't create a little bit of hype. Hey, it's not my job to live up to them

Jellybirds are much better than they´re getting credit for. Brisbane is a good team, but the J-Birds gifted them some great field position with a trio of insane FG attempts. Looks like they (Sydney) could be top tier this season, which is great considering that (i)they´ve been here for a while and (ii) the lossoes the conference suffered to the WL.

And oh yeah, the Uprising is still even with anyone else for winning this league, bad loss to us or not.

Credit cycles.... for the most part you never get enough but every now and then your get too much... PFE is getting a lot right now but it will shift to the next team that beats us..... it was a nice couple of days though

Nice write up Jack. You can pick the Convicts to lose every week. That is fine with us. We like playing the spoiler role.

Its a win/win situation for use. Of course it will take a HUGE day for the Brisbane personnel to pull the upset off, if/when we do lose it gives us an opportunity to see where we can improve.I picked this team to win it all in the preseason owners poll so i'm just looking to keep it as competitive as possible. Great Write up as always!

Nah, this will be one of our two wins on the season. Get 'em while you can!

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for including us in the write up Jack. Good stuff as always.

We are too stubborn to fix that. We are eventually going to hit 65 yard FG's you know.
