Due to the fact that in the game, QBs have no handiness (Lefty or Righty), is it smart to invest points into it. Or is it just a waste since a QB will usually try to get out of the way of a sack.

...Protect IS the Special Ability for Left Tackles. It applies to no one else, but if you play Left Tackle it is a must to have.

I think Bort created a blind side for QBs a while back. Not sure if it is still in the code now or not.

My guess is that they're all default righty but it'll be one of the things that is added to a QB role in not too long.

Question also gets deep into the inner workings of vision. Basically is "vision" a circle of awareness or cone based on a "dot" head and which way it's pointed at the moment?

If you're playing LT you have to get Protect.

I agree Protect is a must have SA if you are playing LOT. Do not think of it so much as protecting the QB's blindside due to him being right or left-handed. However, think of it like this while playing LOT you rarely get the advantage of having a TE to help you block.

Any proof for that one? My OTs are playing on both sides (mostly left) ever since they are created and I got a shining 1 in Protect. So what's the point of Protect?

how can you proof anything in this game?

it says that it gives a boost to SPD, AGI and BLK and i take that for a LOT.
i myself experienced a better play regarding the protection of our QB when i got Protect up on my LT (http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=100429).
you said that you are playing both sides with 1 in Protect, but i didn't check how well you play against good RDEs. i assume that an investment in Protect would improve your play once you got your attributes and skills where you want them.

I'm not saying it wouldn't help, but it's not a "have to get".

A boost to SPD, AGI and BLK on every pass play isn't a "have to get"? The sole purpose of the LT it to keep guys off the QB when he passes. Ok, maybe not sole purpose. But it's somewhere between 85-90.

If you're an LT, you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice if you didn't get it.

Is this even a topic? Protect has been shown time and time again to be a good investment. Spending 15 SP in SAs, adding an AEQ and custom, and having 10 in protect I'd argue is far better than such an investment could get you by spending straight up in spd/agi/blk.

That AEQ has a trade-in opportunity cost of 16 SP, so 31 SP total SP to get protect to 10....

33 SP could get you 3 speed (9SP), 3 agility (12SP), 3 blocking (12SP)

I have a hunch 10 protect is better than 3 spd/agi/blk. Of course this is hard to prove! But as the last SA in a tree maxed out, and all the examples of high protect LOT builds being basically unstoppable, I'd lean towards the protect side of things

Oh. Who's talking about AEQ?

Anyone?

And to put it right: The cost of +3 speed, agility and blocking for a reasonable build LOT should be 47. On the other hand, raising Protect to 9 natural would be 47 points minimum too

It takes until level 36 to get str/blk/agi all third capped. By 48 you could soft cap speed and vision and fourth cap one primary, not accounting for level gains. Nowhere near the numbers you claim.

Why wouldn't you use protect? Do you believe the % is lower than 17% which is about the bonus you'd get to hold blocks? I have to believe it's far beyond that at 9 or 10. More likely it's a 25 to 30% bonus to the three attributes which in all likelihood would result in a net higher average in your hold block roll that correspond to something like a 50% hold blocks bonus.
